Gasthaus Oberer Gäbris

We hiked up from Gais on the morning of what would become a very hot day. We reached the summit just in time for an al fresco lunch on the terrace. We ordered regional salads, which were excellent, and apple cider. The cider was on-tap and served in a beer mug. It was cold and refreshing and absolutely splendid!Try and grab a table on the edge of the terrace--a breeze lifts up from the valley below and provides a nice cooling effect. Lovely place with stunning views, especial towards Austria. The walk back down goes much more quickly!

A pleasant hike from the village of Gais but also accessible by car (except Saturday afternoon and all of Sunday), the restaurant offers a wide variety of local dishes. Weather permitting, there is a spectacular view of the Alpstein. Closed on Wednesdays.
