I was surprised to find that even in such a fashionable Mosel resort, Zell was not a place to cash in on the tourists who enjoy the many attributes it has to offer.Restaurants are the one exception where prices for a main course are comparable to what you would pay in a first rate English establishment.Looking at the menu postings outside a variety of restaurants, we found The Schatzkammer something of an exception with prices a good Euro or two cheaper than its competitors. Even more enticing was the fact that while others seem to be experiencing difficulties in luring diners, this one had customers at every table, many of them locals which for me, is always a good sign.So satisfied were we...

We took refuge here on a particularly wet day in Zell and enjoyed a good lunch. Our arrival was timed to perfection as the place was already beginning to fill up. The restaurant consists of a series of rather austere interconnecting rooms. We were seated at a table in one of the back rooms. The restaurant serves the kind of plain, hearty food that you can find all over Germany. We ordered schnitzels, which came with chips and coleslaw. My zigeuner-schnitzel was drenched in a luridly intense red paprika sauce, but it tasted fine. We drank local wine and finished our meal with coffee and glasses of Poire Williams. The total bill for three came to 51€, which we thought was excellent value. Serv...

Modest, refined, snappy and prompt service, a quiet street off the main drag (but in the absolute center of everything and just around the corner from the tourist office and the statue of Zeller Schwartz Katz). This place specializes in regional food, but has some edgy stuff as well. Salads are excellent, as is the wine (!). The Schweinebraten Klosse and Schweine Braten Spatzle were both sizable portions and very tasty. For the money, I would say this was one of our best deals on the trip of five days down the Mosel. Their lunches look solid as well.

The food here is reasonably priced and no frills but it tastes good and is hearty. We ate on the terrace outside which was peaceful and pleasant. The lady that served us initially - an elderly East German - was really friendly even though she spoke no English but she was the kind of person that seemed to be able to communicate anyway. We were also served by a pleasant young guy who spoke good English as we also heard him talking Dutch. The restaurant inside looked quaint and clean. We will visit again when we are back in Zell later in the year. Réservez une table maintenant

This is usually my go-to when I'm in Germany but I feel their standards have slipped. The interior is beautiful and the food is good value. The service is okay. However, my previous meal was disappointing. I ordered the classic Schnitzel in mushroom sauce. The food took a while to arrive, despite us being the only ones in the restaurant. I had to remove the sauce because it was so salty! The German style fried potatoes were also way too salty and drenched in oil. The weisskraut salat was again... Too SALTY. Maybe they have changed their chef?

We were a party of 4 and none of us were satisfied with our meal. The pork were really old not freshly cook, tasted like it was warmed over and over again. Krautsalat was horrible, from ALDI taste better. We asked for Bratkartoffel without speck and the waiter told us it was not possible as they do not cook to order. Restaurant was dirty.

We ate here as a family of 3 and each had something different - schnitzel, steak and venison goulash. Everyone enjoyed their meals but to my mind the goulash was the star of the show. Good size portions, well cooked and really quite good value. We will be returning here when we're back in Germany later this year. Looking forward to it.

I was with a group of 4 guys on a motor bike tour. We stayed in Zell for 1 night and decided to have dinner in Schatzkammer. Ordinary German food, well prepared, but nothing special. No creative items, just what you can expecet at neighbourinbg restaurants as wel. The place is small, cramped. Service is ok. Price / quality is good. Réservez une table maintenant

Been here several times now and the food has always been great. Davey, the guy usually serving, speaks top notch English and the locals are super friendly too. Food is typical German home cooking. I love this place.
