I was surprised to find that even in such a fashionable Mosel resort, Zell was not a place to cash in on the tourists who enjoy the many attributes it has to offer.Restaurants are the one exception where prices for a main course are comparable to what you would pay in a first rate English establishment.Looking at the menu postings outside a variety of restaurants, we found The Schatzkammer something of an exception with prices a good Euro or two cheaper than its competitors. Even more enticing was the fact that while others seem to be experiencing difficulties in luring diners, this one had customers at every table, many of them locals which for me, is always a good sign.So satisfied were we with our choices that we returned four nights in a row with Weiner Scnitzels of various varieties our first choice. The building itself dates back 350 years and the staff including a young Dutch Canadian, were both friendly and efficient.A very good choice for Zell am Mosel.

Modest, refined, snappy and prompt service, a quiet street off the main drag (but in the absolute center of everything and just around the corner from the tourist office and the statue of Zeller Schwartz Katz). This place specializes in regional food, but has some edgy stuff as well. Salads are excellent, as is the wine (!). The Schweinebraten Klosse and Schweine Braten Spatzle were both sizable portions and very tasty. For the money, I would say this was one of our best deals on the trip of five days down the Mosel. Their lunches look solid as well.

We ate here as a family of 3 and each had something different - schnitzel, steak and venison goulash. Everyone enjoyed their meals but to my mind the goulash was the star of the show. Good size portions, well cooked and really quite good value. We will be returning here when we're back in Germany later this year. Looking forward to it.

Been here several times now and the food has always been great. Davey, the guy usually serving, speaks top notch English and the locals are super friendly too. Food is typical German home cooking. I love this place.
