Spectacular food with warm welcome. Alex, our waiter, was excited to find the dishes we enjoy most happy working with a no pig group diet combination that cut away a good piece of the menu. Eventually, he decided to create a few tailor-made plates he was hoping to wake us up. And they woke us! At first we enjoyed a red pizza with parmesan, rocket and fresh tomatoes. The tomatoes were perfectly ripe, high quality, offer an intense burst of taste, accompanied by the nutty rocket to cut through a generous part of the creamy, salty cheese. However, the cheese did not overwhelm or weighed off the peel, perfectly balanced out the acidic, slightly peppery tomato sauce. The crust of Gattuso is one of the best I have experienced on the bottom crispy and thin without trembling or sagging, and a delicious salty outer edge that was ultra light and crisp. Our second dish was an eggplant and tomato penne. I must confess that I usually don't go for red sauce pastas, as I find the sour tomatoes a bit to a note. However, this pasta changed my mind; delicate eggplant paired perfectly with al dente penne, and both were made in a tasteful, earthy tomato sauce creamy by the correct syringe of oil and milk. It was simple, bright and full of this homemade love you feel rare when you eat. We've only paid 24 pounds for a lunch with two people, as far as I'm concerned. It is the kind of place where you only know you will be remembered and welcomed back as a family. I would come back every day for thankful, lovingly made Italian meals.
