At first they sat at the narrow corner of the sushi bar, although it was 5:45, so the sushi bar was half empty. Then I noticed that no edamame was offered even after the meal. The Sushi Church looked like unhappy office workers waiting for them to end. The server tried to remove my record before I finished, guess I wasn't eating fast enough? Best Sushi restaurant on the west coast! Go hungry and trust Yoshi the master chef choose for you. Trust me! Every time I've visited, I've enjoyed something new and exciting. Perfect for small groups. They were even accommodating to my young son. I highly recommend this place. I also recommend not ordering your normal traditional plain rolls, but be adventurous. Yoshi will impress you with his design and care to the finest details that will make every bite delightful.
The sushi tasted fresh and the fish was soft. Went there for a date night with my boyfriend. Sat down within 5 minutes of walking in at the bar. The sushi chef served us 2 delicious sushi rolls. We shared them and we were satisfied. There's a ton of different fish options.
Worst Sushi ever. It was good three years ago. Looks like everything went wrong. Bad food with ZERO taste or freshness. Doesn't look like something you'd eat. Had a few pieces and disposed of the rest. As in the picture below. Awful and would not recommend.

Overall, good sushi experience. It's a crowded little sushi bar, so you do feel somewhat cramped. I'd definitely return. This is the place I believe all the Dana Point locals visit for sushi, so you know you'll have an acceptable experience.
Husband and I toured the coast from Santa Barbara to Dana Point. That was the best sushi we found! Excellent authentic sushi house. The restaurant was clean and had a large sushi bar to watch the cooks work. Very good!!!
I needed ten years. I've been going to Gen Kai for 10 years I'm not a sushi meal, but Gen Kai has many other great dishes and I never had a bad meal there and the food got hot at the table and the service is excellent.
The best sushi restaurant in South Orange County. Melt in the mouth thick cut yellow dick sashimi. Extensive cooked and raw selection. Fresh Wasabi. Chefs have a funny presence. It's great!

My husband and my favorite Sushi restaurant. We had to stop going more than once a week. The Sushi Burrito, Dana Point Roll and the Hungry Tiger are our favorites.
This place is hopping. Lots of customers. Sushi is pretty decent. Prices are not too bad. Come early if you want first seating.
