Glut saved my life as a homeless person during the early 90's. I came to DC from the South where I was accustomed to picking my veggies from the ground. I was dismayed that there was still is a tremendous gulf between who could eat well who couldn't. Eating well was much better for my body mind/spirit. During the 90's Glut had many great volunteers who were activists I began to think of food (or lack thereof) as a profoundly political thing. I became an ardent recycler. When we take charge of our food we become politically powerful. When w demand no GMO food, we are making a statement taking action These days at Glut sadden me, because I hear none of the passion, or the righteous anger. Unfo...

In a city like DC where many people are transient, GLUT has the right idea. It's structured as any traditional co op. There's a huge bulk selection dry and liquid, as well as a great selection of dried fresh fruits. They've got local milk and cheese, which is hard to find in DC. Basically it's all the amenities a conscious eater could ever want, but they recognize that you may bot be here forever and don't charge membership fees. The prices aren't just reasonable for a specialty market, they're also just good for DC in general. Not much parking so ride your bike or take the G8 up Rhode Island.

I only come here once in a while since they’re overpriced. People here are really helpful and friendly though really slow. They have stuff like vegan milk, vegan cheese, vegan ice cream, and vegan burgers. They have some interesting stuff like vegan fish or shrimp although I never tried them since they are quite expensive.

As always when I come to D.C., I have to look for some place to get everything I need. When visiting a friend, he told me about this place oh my goodness. I found everything I needed then some plus took some things back to Charlotte with me. This will definitely be my staple when visiting D.C. again. Réservez une table maintenant

I still have a strong affection for living here and continue to enjoy visiting. They offer a wide range of vegan products, including cooking items, snacks, fast food, and self-catering options. While it may not be the biggest store, you're likely to find everything you need.

I used to love coming down here when I lived down here, and I still love to visit. Great vegan items for cooking, snacking, quick eats, and self-care. It’s not the biggest place, but you’ll most likely find what you need.

Glut- Thanks for banning meat, fish and fowl all these years (I think) and for remaining a throwback to the food co-ops of yesteryear. Thanks for doing your share in keeping Mt. Rainier positively unique. Réservez une table maintenant

I absolutely love this co-op! It's a bit tucked away, but it has some of the best treasures. It's my go-to shop for those special, harder-to-find items as well.
