We had an order delivered. They deliver from about 5pm. We had haddock, small chips and salad. Haddock is huge. Tasty. I docked a star as the batter came away a bit with the paper maybe a cardboard box or foil container might work better. Small chips is a generous portion. Really nice and tasty. Salad is in a foil container and is so fresh. Cucumber, tomatoes, onions etc. Trying to use fast food chains a bit less and use local independent businesses like this instead. Recommended.
Absolutely disappointed with tonight’s food. Always have a golden friars with my mum as the kebabs are lovely. Was at the in-laws tonight so thought would treat them. Seemed as though it didn’t come from the same place at all. Was plain, bland and completely different salad and no taste whatsoever. It also took an hour 20 mins to arrive. Even the chilli sauce was pants and that usually blows my head off.
I've noticed 5 star reviews must of been under previous owners the chips I bought tonight had been cooked at least 4 times as u bite into the chip it's full of grease and potato is no longer present the fact they serve that to customers is disgusting manage your stock and cook to order we don't want chips left over from Saturday we want fresh chips with potato please go to McCoy's at asda safer there
We picked up some chips here on Friday night. I had to wait for two batches of fresh chips before I could get my order. It was an extraordinarily long wait but the chips were cooked well. Not the best potato I’ve had but a very nice crisp. I would return but hope for quicker service next time. Friendly staff including delivery driver. Réservez une table maintenant
The Golden Friars is a breath of fresh ait to the Renown. The Fish and Chips are tasty and good value, love the pickled gherkins. Equally the staff are always friendly and helpful even though there is usually queues outside the door. All in all a great place and local which makes it even better.
They cook and prepare every dish excellently at this restaurant, and the prices are very reasonable. Their delivery service is always fast. Give it a try, you won't regret it.

Delicious hot food, well cooked and reasonable prices large chips, medium cod, pie, saveloy and 2 bits of chicken for less than £15 can not be beaten
