I used to really enjoy this Chinese restaurant, but my recent experience was disappointing. I placed an order at 6:30pm and was told it would be ready in 45 minutes. However, after waiting over an hour, I realized that my order was incorrect. When I called to explain, the male staff member was rude and insisted that we had not ordered the items in question. He even suggested that we would have to pay extra for their mistake. When I asked to speak to the manager, he abruptly hung up on me. After calling back, the original lady who took the order admitted the error and promised to rectify it. I have been enjoying my favorite Chinese restaurant since I moved to the area in 1997, even though it has changed ownership a few times. The food is always consistently good, and they offer discounts for collection or free local delivery. If you spend £15, you also get a free prawn cracker. However, since the most recent change of ownership, I have noticed that some of the non-Chinese employees answering the phones are not as efficient as the previous staff. Sometimes on a busy Saturday night, you may have to wait 20 or 30 minutes for your order to be ready. Despite these minor inconveniences, I have no complaints and believe the food is worth the wait.
I have been a regular customer of this Chinese takeout for the past 2-3 years, and have usually been satisfied with my orders and the delivery service. However, in recent weeks, I have noticed a decline in the quality of the food and service. My last order of shredded duck was overcooked and dry, leading me to make my first complaint. Unfortunately, the person I spoke to on the phone was rude and unresponsive to my concerns. Due to this negative experience, I have decided not to return to this place and will not be recommending it to my friends.
I just threw away most of the Chinese food we picked up tonight. The crispy duck was tough and overcooked, the crispy breads were soggy, and the seaweed was wet instead of crispy. The king prawn dish was disgusting and the spare ribs were also overcooked. I have never written a negative review before, but I felt compelled to warn others about my experience. I recently ordered takeout from this restaurant for the first time and was very pleased. The food was delicious and the portion size was generous. It arrived on time, although they forgot to include the pancakes for the crispy duck. However, when I called and informed them, they promptly sent the missing items. I would definitely recommend this takeout service.
Correct order every time, we've had issues with other local takeaways that the person taking the order doesn't understand properly. However, Great Wall is different as the person taking the order very well understands and communicates easily and we've had correct order every time. Home delivery available, reasoonably priced, good food.
I placed an order on a Saturday evening and was told that delivery would take 45 minutes. However, the food arrived 20 minutes early, piping hot and delicious. Everyone enjoyed it and the delivery was very polite. I highly recommend this restaurant. Well done and thank you.
