Dined at Grill23 to celebrate my wife 's birthday but encountered the most unsatisfied fine dining experience. Lets start with food...we ordered fois gras as our appetizer. The first one is cooked beautifully with bread on the bottom, topped a with nice chubby piece of foie gras with some green garnish. However there was a hair in the plate so we asked to have a replacement. 15mins later the manager served us with a basically raw duck liver to our table with absolutely 0 garnish and it is absolutely not attractive. It tasted like a piece of pure fat. It is inedible so we reported to the waiter again and ended up with returning it. Manager offered us a free fried calamari as compensation. The...
Forget about Manhattan or Chicago, the great American Steakhouse is in Boston, Massachusetts, and it's called Grill 23 Bar. Consistently all cuts of excellent prime steaks served with superb side dishes, appetizers, and desserts. And when meat is not your choice for the evening, they have wonderful fish, seafood, and a wide variety of different entrees to choose from. My family and I have eaten here multiple times on our visits to Boston, and every time has been superb. So don't give it a second thought. Give them a try. You won't go wrong! Have been to Grill 23 numerous times, and it never disappoints. Our server Conor was amazing. Celebrating my birthday with my wife and we both had steak frites, shared a wedge salad and asparagus (admittedly being from the Pioneer Valley in western Mass we can be asparagus snobs, but these were really good! . Do yourself a favor, get a vodka martini and settle into a dark leather booth and enough a great steak at Grill 23 Bar.
Unbelievable how good everything was! We've been to many high end steakhouses for birthdays, anniversaries etc but this one may be the best one we've been to. From the time we walked in the door until we were leaving the host again wished us a happy anniversary (remembering us 2hrs later) everything was perfect. Food was excellent, service was somehow even better, I can't recommend this place enough.

You definitely don't come to this place to save money or to have dinner conversation as it's quite loud in the dining room (acoustics aren't great) but come for the good service-ask for Ryan, the excellent oysters, deliciously cooked meat and end with a fabulous espresso martini. I would do that in that order and you will not go wrong! 
Food was fantastic, service was great. The only drawback, and not the restaurants fault was an over the top loud table of 8 next to us. We could not carry on a normal conversation. Fortunately they finished midway through our meal and it was standard background noise. Grill 23's food and service is always top-notch!!
Had an outstanding dinner at Grill 23. The food was exquisite, with tons of variety. The service was phenomenal. William was our waiter, he was very attentive and helpful. Also, Adolfo gave is excellent service. All the staff is extremely welcoming and caring.
It was very disappointing. Multiple items we ordered were undercooked and the flavors that were used in several dishes did not combine well. We had to wait a long time to receive the bill, which was very expensive. I would not go back.

Food was excellent. Perfectly cooked steaks. The service was also top notch. Will definitely be back Smith Wollensky and Coach Grill are now #2 and 3 on my list for best steaks in the Boston area.
