Myself and my fiancee booked to have our wedding at the guest, we paid a deposit last year and have recently been put back into lockdown. I rang the landlady Peggy and asked about if our wedding will happen she spoke extremely rude to me on the phone being blunt saying how do I know how much longer this is going to last. She also swore at me so I asked for a full refund because I would like to re-book somewhere else because of how rude she was being over a simple question. The team that decorated the rooms did a fantastic job, making everything look more beautiful than we could have imagined. The bar staff were excellent, and the cocktails were amazing, especially the Piña Colada. Peggy is very down-to-earth and approachable; she went above and beyond to assist us both before and during the wedding, making our day truly special. We understand why many brides and grooms invite her to their wedding celebrations. Our friends and family have had nothing but wonderful things to say about both Peggy and Alwyn. My sister booked her baby shower at this venue for 27 September 2020 and paid a deposit, a verbal agreement was made with Peggy the Land Lady/Manager and she said if local lockdowns or restrictions was to be put in place due to covid by the date we would be refunded. We live in RCT and it went into lockdown well before the 27th September then Merthyr went into lockdown the week after and she refuses to refund even though trading standards have been contacted and by law a refund should of been returned if your area goes into lockdown due to covid and restricting you from leaving but she refuses to do so. bad customer service! I booked the Guest Keen for my father's funeral after he lost his battle with cancer. Initially, Peggy was very kind and supportive regarding our family's situation, but that quickly took a turn. At one point, I called her to discuss details because I was feeling anxious, and she began shouting at me and hurling insults over the phone. I ended the call in tears. Later, Peggy's husband called my grieving mother, threatening her and making cruel comments about my deceased father, saying he "deserved cancer." Peggy and her team did an absolutely fabulous job of creating the perfect wedding venue for my husband and me. We got married on Saturday, March 25th, 2023, and it truly was the best day of our lives. When I saw how Peggy and the team had set up the ceremony and reception rooms, I was overwhelmed with joy and tears! Me and my wife booked our wedding last year with the staff at the Guest Keen Club. Even with restrictions in place, the care, attention to detail and planning of our special day was out of this world! We would highly recommend anyone to plan their special day or event with the Guest, as the staff are always polite, professional and ensure your day goes to plan. They also do a mean take away Sunday lunch! A big Thank You from us again, definitely 5 stars from us.
We booked a baby shower at this venue and due to local lockdown rules were unable to go ahead with the function. The venue have refused to refund us the deposit. We have contacted trading standards which have agreed that they have to refund the deposit due to the current circumstances. They are now refusing to answer calls and emails. Awful customer service. We are already facing stressful times and the last thing a mother to be needs is more stress.
Was a bit nervous in booking after reading some comments below, however we can’t thank the guest keen enough and felt the need to leave a review. Peggy did everything and more, she was so creative with the little extras that we had. Big thank you for making our baby shower so beautiful, and the afternoon tea was just Perfect! Highly recommend.
