Recently came here to have a cuppa, read the last chapter of my book and a bite to eat. What a gorgeous little place. Inside there is plenty of places to sit as well as a courtyard out the back. Food was very nice, coffee hot and was allowed to just do my own thing without being bothered.The chunky chips were delicious and a friend who dropped in proceeded to eat almost all of them. When I asked for extra sauce, it was delivered quickly and we weren't charged for it. Wheelchair friendly. Kid friendly. Parking is the usual you'd expect on Brunswick Street - observe time limits. Toilets clean. Staff are delightful
It is a bakery/cafe that only opens at daytime hours (usually close by 3pm, I think). I came here often when living on the same street just a few blocks away. Usually it is a good place for both breakfast and lunch. While their sandwiches are all right, I especially like their bagel-like "simit" with cheese (a Turkish specialty, since owners are originally from Turkey)They do offers free Wi Fi for paying customers. However, it is usually not very reliable. If you do not need to use Wi Fi, this is indeed a good place in the neighborhood for coffee and breakfast/quick lunch.
I stopped into Gutz on my way to explore Melbourne. They were offering a bacon and egg roll and coffee for AUS $9.50, much more reasonably-priced than other restaurants in the neighborhood. The bargain looked even better when I remembered that, in Australia, "coffee" includes things that in the U.S. we think of as specialty drinks: cappuccinos, lattes, etc. Good breakfast, and they also kept me from wandering all over Fitzroy looking for the tram stop I needed.
Ordered the banana smoothie and banana pancakes & both were great. Girlfriend ordered veg breakie and a coffee and equally as good.The lady who served us, who we assumed was the owner, was super friendly & seemed genuinely interested in making us feel welcome. A lovely cafe, all the staff were very friendly and welcoming. I ordered the banana pancakes with walnuts and ice-cream, it was absolutely delicious and well presented on the plate and I enjoyed a spicy Chai latte. I definitely will going back to this cafe on my next visit to Melbourne.
There is a range of options for breakfast served all day. The rest of the menu gives different choices but you can find a nice meal whatever you fancy.The waitresses were particularly friendly and the meals and coffee both arrived quite quickly. Definitely worth a visit.
We were moderately hungry at lunchtime. This place was perfect. We shared a Mediterranean focaccia and a carrot cake. Both were wonderful! Had a cappuccino each and they were great. Funky atmosphere and very good prices. Perfect for us! Réservez une table maintenant
