We chose the Hokkaido experience, which was a fantastic value at $50 per person. Our server, Kat, provided exceptional service—she was friendly and consistently attentive. The food met our expectations, delivering the same delicious flavors we remembered from previous visits, especially since we cooked it ourselves. I do wish the spicy lamb were a permanent menu item! The restaurant was a bit noisy, filled with families with young kids, so it wasn't quite the romantic evening we had anticipated. However, we were seated in a curtained booth towards the back, which offered some privacy. Overall, it was a lot of fun, and we look forward to coming back for special occasions!
I go to Gyu Kaku almost every week and order the exact same thing: A5 Wagyu short rib. However, what I was served this time was definitely not A5 wagyu. Being someone working in the meat industry, I am pretty positive I can identify if a steak is A5 wagyu or not and this certainly was not despite the manager's claims. Anyone that has had this particular kind of steak would now it is quite weird for A5 wagyu to stick to the grill due to its marbling and high fat content.
Had a reservation at 7:15 which I made at least 4-5 days in advance. Arrived on time and host told us it would be 5 minutes until we were seated, which we were fine with. However we were not seated until 35 minutes after our reservation with no communication about status. After that service was very slow. I am sympathetic to the fact that the restaurant may have been short staffed but in that situation they should tell us or not take our reservation.
Servers was quick and efficient. Explained the menu and provided recommendations as needed. Food was great. We had a great time cooking the food ourselves! The food was adequate and we were so full. Recommend ordering the combos if you’re new. Gives you a flavor of what they offer.

The food is excellent. The staff is very nice and helpful. The ambience is warm and cheerful. Unfortunately we were very tired after a long flight and we found the place to be a little bit too noisy, but overall we were very satisfied with our dinner.
My experience was fantastic; this is the best Japanese BBQ restaurant I've ever visited. I loved the unique concept of cooking the meat yourself. It is a bit pricey, but definitely worth it. I'm thinking about returning for my birthday!
Consistently great service and quality food. You can't go wrong with any of the menu items I love to try new things whenever I'm there. Recently tried the tuna volcano which I loved!
The all-you-can-eat option is definitely a better value, but the first-time course menu tasting was also enjoyable. The service was excellent.
