I had read about this place on happycow, and have dined here many times over the years. Here 's my Happy Family in Rowland Heights review. Was last here in late January 2012 for dinner. For Chinese vegetarian food, this place is fair, some dishes are better than others. The menu and the food taste is not unlike the other veggie Chinese restaurants in the greater Los Angeles area. I ate here for dinner with three carnivorous boys and another fellow vegan/vegetarian. This was by far one of my best vegan dining experiences. Not only was everything we ordered vegan, but I could safely try food from each dish without worrying about what was in it. Each of us ordered a dish and shared family style. Even with 5 of us, there was still a crazy amount of food leftover. After reading some older reviews for this restaurant, I don't believe the flavors are as good as they used to be. The food is bland and most dishes have a similar flavor profile. Despite having a large menu, many of the items taste the same. The service is also lacking in friendliness. During a recent lunch visit, I received what tasted like watered-down ketchup masquerading as tomato soup. It was so unappetizing that I only took one sip before leaving the rest untouched. The lunch specials also come in smaller portions. I only visit this restaurant when I'm in a pinch or forget about the disappointing experiences I've had in the past.

I was reading the older reviews for this restaurant and I don 't think the flavor is there anymore. The food is plain and the flavor is the same for most of the food. They have a large menu but most of the food tastes the same. The servers are not that friendly either. I came for lunch one day and they brought me a tomato soup and I swear that was diluted ketchup! It was so nasty, I just had one sip and didn 't drink the rest. The portions are smaller for lunch specials. I only go to this place when I 'm desperate or forget how bad they are.
We have been going to Happy Family for many, many years! The reason for that is the food is always excellent. We can order off the menu and all is vegetarian. And we just love the owners and staff. We are treated like family Oh, prices are excellent, too! Lunch is great!
To be honest, the situation and the outside do not do justice to this place. It was a total surprise when the first dish came and it tasted great. Will come back for more. Also there are AYCE $8.95 per person MON-FRI from 11:00 am to 2:30 pm except holidays.
Fried 5 non vegetarian family members and they were all blown away! Corn soup, noodles, rice, mushrooms. Lotus root and snowbows. Not many people, but don't let that frighten - incredible food and great service. Almost all menu is vegan!

The menu is huge, the food is wonderful. Hot food is hot, crispy food is crispy. On the second floor this room camera fits 80 people. Free tea came immediately. The server was pleasant. I'd like to come back.
It has the best food ever! My favourites are the tofu and eggplant dish, fried bread and string beans.
