After being away from home for 15 months we returned to our usual places to shop, eat, meet, talk, read and garden .... all the normal things. I read a book The Age "Good Food Guide" for 2017 as soon as I got back and guess what? A Vietnamese restaurant was highlighted in it. It was in the very place where we do our supermarket shopping, where we visit every week. I did not even know it was there!We do now. We called in for lunch last week. It was divine. Tables and chairs are well spaced, comfortable (watch out for the little baskets under every seat for storing your bags etc) and the service was friendly, efficient and helpful. We have been to Hem27 about 8 times because it is near our place very convenient and the food is not too bad. 3 out of the 8 times we had smelly meat on our plate. Each time we gave them the feedback, the answer was always nothing was wrong with the meat and still charged for the dish. The third time was today and I told the manager. All he said, in a very lound voice, was nothing was wrong with meat and I might be sick that was why I found the meat smelly. I was shocked by the way he dealt with the customer's complaint. Let a customer leave unhappy, ignore customer complaint, tell customers they're wrong are mistakes that a manager shouldn't do but he made them all.But I might expect too mu...
We checked this out after finding out about it from a local Facebook group.Really family friendly and they didn't mind our kids being a little excited and noisy. As they love dinning out.It was so tasty and incredible value to eat here.Also great selection of you need gluten free items as there is plenty to choose from!The quail eggs in prawn meat were to die for and so was the pho!!!Been here at least weekly now! Also great for take away. They even lets us keep the rice spoon after we admired it!Highly recommend for family dinning
I had takeaway soup and spring rolls from here and was very underwhelmed. After trying to get some recommendations from the young guy at the front desk and only receiving sarcasm and poor service, I headed home with my fancily packaged meal. Having spent nearly $20 I was very disappointed with my flavourless meal! There was nothing tasty about this meal and most of it went in the bin. Maybe if they spent a little less money on the packaging and put more care into the food, they'd do a bit better.

Sort of found this place by accident just walking past, great atmosphere and tasty authentic Vietnamese food, really reasonable priced too. Quick friendly service. I had lunch here but I imagine it would be a nice place for dinner too. Tiny but cute and cosy the owners certainly have made the most of the available space. I had Spicy BBQ Chicken with this amazing Coconut Rice.
We had several dishes from the Hawker list and they were all delicious! Very reasonable price. Great service and suggestions on what to order. Loved the ambience and the history behind the name Hem 27. Would definitely return and recommend.
lovely food, great service, plenty parking spaces, authentic Vietnamese food. they make hot sour fish soup which is hard to find sometimes in small Vietnamese restaurants. try it it's really yummy
Very authentic, love all the dishes I've tried. Defs recommend the beef stew with egg noodles. My partner is vegetarian and likes the spring rolls but would appreciate more veg options :-)
