My partner and I went here on the recommendation of a family member. He hyped it, so we decided to put up with the 30-minute wait for a table. While waiting, I noticed the magazine story ranking Henry's 25th on some "must eat here" list. The date was 2001. I wondered if the restaurant had kept up the good work or not.The waitress who served us was nice -- it was her first day. She was quick getting our drink order. Since my partner has Celiac disease, we wanted to make sure the fish "po boy" haddock plate was okay for her to eat. We have been going to Henry since the 70 s when Henry would pick you up in Echo Bay ,we was a Native Canadian ,Paul seems to run it well but we have been there every summer since he bought the place and he never makes notice that he knows you .on the other hand his pickerel is amazing pan fried and good value .I love the new coleslaw and my husband loves the beans ,it always is a must ,when we are boating Paul more regonition from regulars would be a nice touch ,whoever is the chef is doing a super job .a highlight of our summer sailing ...
We stopped here on our way into Parry Sound from a week in the Georgian Bay. The staff was helpful and attentive despite being really busy! It was entertaining to watch the boats come and go while we waited to be seated. Seemed more like a dining hall than a restaurant type experience. but I like it anyhow. I tried the Haddock and the others in the family had the Pickerel which came on platters to share. with fries and coleslaw. Everyone left full and satisfied. Perfect summer fish and chips experience.
