I had lunch there after a winter stroll in the lovely Appenzell area. The Gasthof is a mere 10 minute walk from Gais railway station. The restaurant is small but with a warm and cozy atmosphere. Thumbs up for the warm welcome by the tenant lady, who was friendly and efficient throughout the entire lunch. Her husband is the Chef de Cuisine; he took the time to come out and greet all the guests, which is always a much appreciated gesture. For lunch, you may choose between 10 set menus, all beginning with a soup (it was a delicious tomato soup when I visited) and mixed salad. As main course I chose a veal schnitzel in morels sauce with homemade noodles. The veal was cooked to perfection tender...
