This place looks so lovely the inside is but the food is below average. We sat outside as the day was lovely and it was so incredibly noisy for being outside. I was going to give it a better rating but my husband had the special which was a short rib mushroom lasagna he thought the mushrooms were large, chewy the dish was undesirable. The service was beyond awful they charge you a 3% charge if you pay with credit card. I will NOT be going back. Weâre foodies so if youâre into average food lousy service you might like it. Recommend you sit inside if you want a nicer atmosphere. Itâs local for us had hoped it would be better.
We visited for our 38th wedding anniversary. The best parts were we were served with 2 glasses of sparkling wine, at seating, thank you! And the ambiance is very comforting. As for our meal, including soup, appetizers, and entrees, they do not require a second visit. The salad with too much vinegar/sour, the Risotto was sweet and oily, the cauliflower was bland and the lasagna was overcooked and tasteless. we love everything about the ho kus inn tavern. the eating is excellent (the pulpy appetizer and the personal is always so inviting. we are just as comfortable for a quiet evening meal as we take our 6 years old, which is made to feel as if it fits directly in. a special scream to "Z, which makes us feel like a family. we highly recommend.
Great food! The Asian style fried calamari was especially delicious. We ate in the library which was very comfortable and quaint. I definitely recommend this establishment. We have dined many times at the Ho-Ho-Kus Inn and enjoy it very much. But the portions for Father's Day brunch were VERY SMALL. As usual, the service was attentive and prompt. We just hoped for a more substantial meal at such hefty prices.
It is quiet, long-established, pub restaurant with American atmosphere to foteigners. Ordered sandwiches were delicious and good for the cost-effectiveness. Most of all, French fried potatoes were soft. Worth to visit again
