Hong Hau, Maybe #2. Last night we had an early “Mother’s Day Dinner” at one of the area’s better Chinese restaurants, the Hong Hua Restaurant on Orchard Lake Road, just south of 12 Mile Road. It’s not your typical neighborhood Chinese restaurant, but it’s a former “Hour Magazine’s Restaurant of the Year” winner and a reputation for fine dining. Our party of eleven (11) was seated in their rear room and the décor was modern and clean.<br/ <br/ We started dinner with their Corn and Chicken Soup which was hot and very tasty. It’s not on the regular menu, so you’ll have to ask it for by name. Next, we had the Peking Duck which in my opinion compares favorably with the Peking Duck we had last yea...

This is my absolute favorite Chinese restaurant and it's perfect for families that have diverse dietary needs. I'm vegan and this restaurant is a vegan heaven but it's also perfect for omnivores (or carnivores we have a few of those in my family! . The mapo tofu, eggplant tofu, chili eggplant, veggie lo mein, and spring rolls are my favorite vegan dishes here, but there are several other vegetable items that are also vegan. If I had to eat one thing for the rest of my life it probably would be the chili eggplant. Seriously, it's that good. The staff are also incredibly hospitable and attentive. I moved to Birmingham but I still come to Farmington Hills to go here.

Last year my favorite Chinese place went out of business and I've been looking for a replacement. A couple of people of mentioned Hong Hua so I decided to try it. <br/ I was greeted nicely and seated immediately. <br/ <br/ I tried the General Tso's chicken. At lunch time it came with an egg roll and my soup choice of Hot and Sour soup. The Hot and Sour was very tasty without being too spicy. The egg roll was rather crunchy and bland. The General Tso's was seasoned the way I like it. It was served with a little bit of broccoli. It was spicy but again not overwhelmingly spicy. <br/ <br/ I enjoyed my meal and will return.

Great Lunch Deals!. I and my co-workers have eaten at Hong Hua a few times. The food quality and service are excellent! I absolutely love the sweet and sour chicken, and since it's a lunch special, I get a great deal! First, the soup of your choice is served piping hot. Then your meal comes out just as you're finishing your soup. They have generous portions and always include an egg roll. I always have leftovers that make into one or two more lunches.
