we ate here so much in the last 5 or 6 years, visit connie and her wonderful team. However, the last couple, when the times we have been here, eating has greatly reduced in appearance, which have reduced portion sizes and additional fees have been added to the menu (extra .50c for sauces etc., which would have been included before) as the bosiness of the meal with the waitress bought up, the waitress shredded them off and went away. at another opportunity the waitress stood at the door and waited for us (and another couple) to leave. such a scandal that a great place like this was not able to run in such a delicious tempo. what would have been a 5-star rating is now a 1-star rating. we are n...
Solid four star Chinese. They were good enough here to take us in around closing time on a Saturday afternoon, and didn't rush us at all. The food was really lovely. Not fancy but extremely tasty. The standouts for me were the spring rolls, the chicken skewers, the scallops and ginger and the white bait. A special thank you to the young woman who served us throughout. She may well have had a right to be a bit surly as we dined away when the restaurant would normally be closed. But, she retained a happy affable air throughout and served us impeccably and very politely. Goon on her. All in all this was a very pleasant experience. It's a lovely restaurant which deserves to do very well.
We didn't know quite what to expect in booking this restaurant.Both its unusual name and the fact it was a Chinese restaurant made us unsure.What we found was a spacious restaurant with comfortable accessible seats,a place easy to have a conversation without intrusive background noise and superb food that was inexpensive.We had the cheapest banquet at $36 which was quite excellent.So highly recommend for a visit.And book for 6.30 when the clearway ends and get a park right out the front in High St,
Ordered home delivery Quick however the food was terrible 1 satay chicken was deep fried and came with a tasteless watery satay sauce salad consisted of 4 tiny cucumber pieces and 1 pineapple chunk from a tin2 char kuay teow well what can I say I thought it was cooked in pork fat and contained Chinese sausage fish cake prawns none of these here 3 fried rice average4 hot and sour soup fairAvoid this place I should have taken some photos

A nice Chinese restaurant with good ambiance and comfortable seating environment. We always go for the banquet that includes San choi bow, Peking duck wrap, sauteed prawns, Mongolian beef and banana fritters. They are also licenced but you can byo as well. Corkage is only $2 per person. I always had a good meal there for the past 3 years.
What a great little restaurant. Everyone hates paying more than they have to. But not when it's worth every bit. I've been four times in the last year and have never been disappointed. Every dish has been good....prawns, steak, noodles etc. And it's BYO. I always patronize BYO's! Best Asian in Kew and surrounds.
Hooking has been a Chinese restaurant for a long time. The present owners have been here a while & are well liked by the locals. The food is always nice, especially the seafood. they sometimes have Spring Bay Mussels on special & they are delicious. prices are very reasonable & staff a very nice.
Don't order satay chicken on skewers - the sauce was watery no peanut flavour - the special fried rice was anything but special. It wasn't a busy night - staff unconcerned with comments , perhaps this will help. Couldn't order banquet for one - it doesn't say minimum 2 on menu. Won't be back.
