"We always have lunch here during our skiiing holidays in Wengen. The food is very good, the roesti in particular with Gorgonzola and a fried egg. Puddings also outstanding if you can manage one. The interior is very classy traditional Alpine. Service is excellent. Do book and remember they only take cash."

All I said in my review March 2017 holds true for 2018, EXCEPT the food was even better-and that is an unbelievable accomplishment, since this is by far the best food in the Jungfrau region already.The hotel has the old world charm and is run superbly by Patricia and Urs von Almen.The staff is wonderful, always cheerful, accommodating and knowledgable. The vibe and ambiance at the hotel are so lovely, regardless if in the dining room, library, bar or around the fireplace, outside and inside or Alpenstübli. Wherever you sit, you can never go wrong.Patricia had organized a Pilates class and I could not find better in New York City!This was our 7th year-and we already have our reservation for 2...
Tuvimos un almuerzo delicioso con nuestros niños cada uno con un adulto sirviendo. Sin embargo, como no queríamos que nuestros hijos tomaran bebidas azucaradas, pedimos agua para ellos (y cerveza y vino para nosotros). Cuando piden la factura, resulta que han cobrado 7 CHF por el agua de los niños. Más que una coca, más que la cerveza de mi marido. No solo es codicioso cobrar 7 CHF por el agua del grifo, sino que también está alentando a las personas y los niños a beber cosas azucaradas en lugar de agua. Cuando se lo indicamos a nuestro camarero, no quiso o no pudo ayudarnos. Wengernalp, eres tan bueno, así que da un paso adelante y ayuda a los padres a criar hijos saludables.
Booked a table for a Birthday, weather was good so arrived early to get a table on the terrace. Only to find it’s cash only. We only had enough for a round of drinks. I spoke to the waiter who shrugged he shoulders and said what can I do. Went inside to find somebody in charge no luck! I wonder if the rooms at CHF 480+ a night are cash only. In today’s cashless society the must have a credit card machine. It’s there loss given they are off the beaten track. We were frustrated and it had spoilt the Birthday. So we left and took our custom elsewhere.
Dommage l’emplacement est sublime. Par cette belle journée ensoleillée nous nous sommes retrouvés dans une petite pièce enfumée et sans vue. Côté repas prix suisses. La carafe d’eau est facturée 7CHF ! Nous étions fatigués et souhaitions nous reposer sinon nous aurions préféré le restaurant d’Almen. Service peu sympathique.Addition 71,50 chf pour 2 plats dont un saucisse +rösti.
