Switzerland is an expensive but oh so beautiful place so get used to it and this is an expensive restaurant alright but hey its the best in the best little village on the Swiss side of the shore of the Lake Leman. Swiss white wines of this region are some of the best in the world and generally cannot be sourced anywhere else but locally so save up if you are planning a trip or max out your credit card if you are already there. So, wine list short but tops, food all good not five stars but just right and typical of the region, the location of the restaurant is as Tina Turner would have it, simply the best and I wont even mention the view.......................
I had a birthday lunch lately at the restaurant du Rivage. The terrace is marvelous with a great view on Lake Geneva and the French Alps. There is a small road between the Restaurant /Hotel but it is closed to traffic except for local residents on the road which are quite few. The prices are not cheap but not that expensive for what they offer. Service is friendly and not too fast (you dont want super fast service when you are enjoying the food and surroundings anyway, so just perfect) Staff was very attentive. I have visited the hotel before and know they have great rooms with beautiful views.
we had lunch on a sunny day on the patio. it was not crowded and calm. The service was relatively friendly a little bit short when we tried to figure out what we wanted. The decided for the "filets de perch". And we had several option besides the traditional french fries, which in my opinion does not really go with the delicacy of the fish. The meal was very good, even the size was on the small side. The price was average for this type of meal.
Had dinner on the terrace, enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere and the spicy (on request) steak tartar. My friends enjoyed the fillets of perch, which disappointingly are now imported. This brought back memories from 50 years ago when we last reunited on this terrace, which has changed little. The view is breathtaking. Service was professional and attentive.
This restaurant is very nicely located in the port of Lutry and has a nice outdoor deck that is comfortable and pleasant in Summer. But it is too expensive for the average food they give. The service is also questionable. We reserved a table by going there in person the day before and when we arrived they had not even reserved it for us.
