Was in Regina for the week on business and was fortunate enough to stay at the Hotel Saskatchewan. The hotel is well maintained inside and out and it dominates a great central location in downtown Regina.Check-in was fast and friendly with the clerk making sure to give the entire rundown of the hotel's amenities. From other comments the hotel has been renovated recently and I have to say, it looks good. The only exception would be the pool/fitness area. Aside from the gym equipment, I don't think a lot of money was spent on this space. They also no longer have an infrared sauna. The room was comfortable and well-appointed, no stationary though. I also wouldn't mind a fully-stocked minibar as opposed to just the bottles of red and white (had the red, it was good). Wifi worked well for work. Wouldn't mind a pay-per-view movie service though. No issues with noise, some issues with shower water pressure though very minor. I had a great sleep every night. One odd thing though was that the water tasted bad; so alkaline it was almost undrinkable. Not sure if this was because of water softening or the city. Had room service and ate in the restaurants. Room service was always prompt though I had to call multiple times one night. The food here is amazing, only one less than stellar meal (the papparedelle, it wasn't seasoned enough). Steak, amazing. Pork chop, unbelievable. The bartender here is a wizard at cocktails and they're cheap! You haven't had an old fashioned, manhattan, or sidecar, until you've had one here. The service was very poor in the breakfast room though so maybe avoid that and do room service. The food was good and they had an omelette bar.Regarding the service in the breakfast room, nobody acknowledged me when I came in. I stood waiting while being ignored until a gentleman behind me did an obvious, "good morning" to the staff. I waited five minutes to order coffee/juice from the hostess because my waitress was "busy" (the room had three people in it). Then when she did show up, she dropped off the bill immediately and mentioned how I could take my coffee to go. Whenever I put down my fork to read the paper she sprang up asking if I was finished and offered to get me a to go cup. I got the distinct impression she wanted me out of there ask quickly as possible.Anyway, aside from that the rest of the stay was fantastic and I would highly recommend to any traveler in the Regina area. The hotel has a great location, good service, excellent on site dining options, a well-stocked fitness room, and comfortable accommodations. Pro-tip: Get a shoe shine. It's cheap and your shoes will look better than new.
