When I was invited to the Irish Pub, I had some expectations, because during my visits to the UK, I had the opportunity to go into more pubs in England but also in Scotland and Wales. The interior of Irish Pub in Giessen, looks like a pub in Wales. The atmosphere, music, dishes and serving are like a common restaurant German. Music a little bit loud and inappropriate to dinner right rather in a club or disco. Common dishes and neutral, which you can order from anywhere in Europe, nothing specific. Apparently this was a good pub in the past and well run. It is definitely missing the atmosphere of an Irish Pub. The staff are friendly however they miss that charm of the Irish. I noticed a previous comment was that is was the best Irish pub in Giessen...however it is the only Irish pub in Giessen. Hmmmm... The owner/management can do much better. The pub is a lovingly decorated shop in the heart of the famous Döner triangle. Here you can experience pub atmosphere legally in the specially separated smoking area without it stinking for people. The Irish Malt Whiskeys are worth mentioning, as are the live music that is an important part of the pub culture. There is almost always someone on stage and often it is worth paying a few euros for it.
Five stars for Andi Pfälzer, the karaoke god, 2 stars discount for percussion drinks prices and the terrible location on the Asterweg! The store is cool, you just ask for entry for every little thing I think is often simply not justified! The bartenders are very nice and the drinks are okay, but for me there is nothing in the watered pub landscape...
2 times in, 2 times bad experiences. Unfriendly operation, glasses not full to the line, and if you ask for an even stupid comment about this music was also not grad Irish pub typical and clearly too loud to entertain.
