The wait was a bit long but expected. Once we were seated, we were informed that there was an online menu, which was not convenient for us as we have a no phones at the table policy and the font was too small for most of us to read. Eventually, after about 15 minutes, we were given a printed menu on regular office copy paper. The menu seemed to offer a mix of dishes similar to Applebee's and Longhorn. If I had known that my salmon was not fresh and would be served with a large, cold pile of orzo pasta, I would have chosen something else. I haven't visited this restaurant in years and decided to stop by for lunch based on feedback from peers regarding their good social distance practices. The food was good. The wine selection wasn't bad at all. In addition to steak, they did have a vegetarian burger which was fresh and extremely flavorful. My friend thoroughly enjoyed her steak. She stated it was flavorful and well marinated. I would definitely return.The service was great and the dining practices made me feel extremely safe.

Great customer service and great food. We placed an order to-go and there was a slight mix up which resulted in us getting someone else’s order. Unfortunately I never even checked the food until I got back to the house.. nonetheless I went back and they gave us the correct food. The food was great and the service manager, Jake, later called to apologize end even refunded our money. It is tough to find places nowadays with customer service like that. Thanks Jake, and we will be back.

Having eaten at this great restaurant on more than 300 occasions since 2002, it is still a bit surprising how consistent the quality has remained. The food was quite good (we had roasted artichokes, a Caesar Filet salad, salmon and the tuna steak) and arrived cooked as we requested. Service was excellent, exhibiting true, gracious hospitality. As our go-to fine dining spot in Hoover, we have always been pleased with every visit.

When I was still working over 10 years ago we did a business dinner at J Alexanders and I remember how good the prime rib was. Now retired, we were in the area and I set this up as one of our dinner spots. It's as good as I remembered. The menu is pretty extensive, the service is very attentive, and the wine list was pretty reasonable. All in all it was a great finale to our couples golf trip.

We love J. Alexander's in Hoover. We eat there every year for our anniversary. It's just a beautiful place and great atmosphere. The food is always great! We love the New York Strip and Filet Mignon and the NYO mac n cheese is wonderful! We can't wait to go again!

Dinner was excellent! The Prime Rib was particularly delicious! Everyone enjoyed their selections. The service was also excellent and the restaurant was very clean. The permanent glass partitions between the booths was very appreciated and very tastefully done.

Service,.......super slow.....waited 15mins just to get a drink order place Then waited 30 mins for a Starter order. And the shimp was.sub par on my expectations for this brand. Hope it was just a bad night.....but it was a BAD night

The staff is friendly but the $15 dip appetizer tasted like melted Velveeta and frozen spinach. The fries and mashed potatoes were served cold. Overall, the restaurant is overpriced.

Needed a quick lunch. Thought we'd get a simple soup and salad. We got the soup of the day. Chicken tortilla soup. This was the best tortilla soup ever !!! Service was average.
