This place feels like home. I've been coming here since I was in high school back in the late 2000's, and I've always found comfort in the owner's Jamaican beef patties, served in cocoa bread and occasionally with cheese. Every time I've come back, she has remembered me even when I've disappeared for years, changed my glasses, dyed my hair, or brought in new partners or friends. After visiting this restaurant since 2005, I finally tried the Oxtail platter, and it was fantastic! The dish came with oxtails, rice and beans, cabbage, and plantains, and it was absolutely delicious. The oxtail gravy was outstanding, and the meat was incredibly tender with excellent flavor. To top it all off, I indulged in the classic Beef-Cheese-CoCo. This place has always been excellent, and it hasn't changed a bit. J J’s consistently delivers a great experience. I highly recommend it to anyone seeking Caribbean food in the South Orange area!
This place has in this town for 28 years, there is a reason why they have been around so long. The owner is this wonderful sweet lady that, she is definitely Jamaican be a those Pattie’s hit different. The oxtails are succulent and falls off the bones, the plantain’s are sweet and crispy on the edges. If you’re looking for delicious Jamaica food go here, always call before you go because she starts cooking in the morning and at times the food isn’t ready until after 12pm but it’s very much worth the wait.
Things took a turn when an employee finally arrived but didn’t acknowledge anyone. She had a rather unfriendly demeanor and, without greeting us, went straight to the couple who had entered after us to take their order. For some reason, they assumed they should order first, even though we were there before them.
Feeling unwelcome and uncomfortable with the employee's behavior, I chose to leave. I won't be returning to a place where the staff seems rude and unfriendly.

The best beef and cheese on cocoa bread that I have ever had (mainly because the cocoa bread is sublime); this was our go-to place for lunch in high school and some ten years on, I still crave J&J's. On approach, it may not seem like much but what it lacks in appearance, it makes up for in price and the purest deliciousness.
J J Caribbean Restaurant is awesome. The patties are delicious and affordable. The best thing about J J Caribbean Restaurant is the owner. She is an amazing human. I have heard so many great stories about her that someone should capture and make a short film about her journey and all she does for this community.
We love eating out. Last night we found this excellent place which we didn’t know before. We spent a lovely time there with first-rate cooking and a nice team and a great cuisine. We added this fine restaurant in our phone list and we will no doubt return soon. We highly recommend.
I've been coming here since 2004, and I plan to keep visiting for as long as I can. The beef patties are incredible and have consistently been excellent over the years. The staff is incredibly friendly and truly makes you feel like part of the family, not just a customer.

I walked in and heard the cling of a pot cover..I was right on time to get a serving of freshly cooked oxtails. Yummy
