Avoid this place like the plague. Racist staff, piss poor service, overpriced food and not a welcoming environment at all. For some reason, my mom decided to celebrate her birthday here last week and we had an awful experience from start to finish. For starters, they don 't allow outside cakes in which is just downright silly. No one is paying 10 bucks for a slice of that mediocre cake they have. It 's a birthday celebration, let people bring their cakes in. Then, the staff were standoffish and cold from the very beginning. When we got to the table we could feel people on all sides staring at us. I asked one of the white fellas who works there for a refill of water and he literally just stoo...

We really had a good time at Joe Muer West Bloomfield last night. The restaurant is spacious with a cool, relaxed ambiance. There 's a dress code to eat here so be sure to adhere to that. Everyone in the restaurant was dressed business casual at minimum and it honestly added to the upscale vibe of the whole place. We started off with a dozen oysters, half east coast half west. The presentation was impeccable and the oysters super fresh. The lobster bisque and clam chowder were also fresh and lip smacking tasty . For our main dishes, we had the miso glazed Chilean sea bass, the king crab tagliatelle pasta, and the crab stuffed Atlantic flounder. All three were amazing; filling and delicious a...

I’m happy to report that our memories of the old Joe Muer's were more than fulfilled. We enjoyed a wonderful dinner while catching up with friends. The food, especially the sea bass and Dover sole, was outstanding. My husband remarked that it was the best Dover sole he had tasted since our last visit to London; it was cooked to perfection, expertly seasoned, and flawlessly deboned by our delightful server, Tonya Gray. Her professionalism, sense of humor, familiarity with the menu, and remarkable ability to anticipate our needs made the evening memorable beyond just the food. The dining room itself was reminiscent of the original Joe Muer’s, featuring soft lighting, a cozy atmosphere, and ta...

Growing up in the Detroit area, I have many memories dining at Joe Muer Seafood downtown to celebrate special occasions with family... I looked it up since and learned that JMS has been around the area for more than 90 years! This new(er) location on Woodward happens to be super close to where my parents now reside and I recently went for a special meal with my siblings, aunt and uncle. Despite feeling a bit underdressed (note there is a bit of a dress code), this restaurant delivers on atmosphere, service, and most importantly fine food and beverages! Our group enjoyed a variety of apps, salads, sushi, seafood, steak and dessert... It comes with a price tag, but I highly recommend a meal at... Réservez une table maintenant

The meal took a while to arrive, but that was actually a nice opportunity to savor our appetizers and enjoy the atmosphere. The cocktails were excellent, and the portion sizes were larger than we anticipated. Our server, Lee, did an outstanding job of managing our table. I ordered the seared tuna, and it was a generous piece of fish. The burrata appetizer was massive—definitely enough to share among four people. I also really enjoyed the Mike's Old Fashioned; the maple syrup didn't overshadow the bourbon, allowing the bourbon to shine, which is exactly what an Old Fashioned should be. I will definitely be returning to this restaurant.

I would rate this place a 6-star if I could! It is, without a doubt, the BEST restaurant I have ever visited. Everything was top-notch. Our server, Matt, and his team did an amazing job hosting us. The service was excellent, and there was even a live band playing. Everything was fantastic, and the food was absolutely delicious. We will definitely be returning to this location. A big shout-out to the kitchen staff as well!

The food and service was 8.5/10. I prefer the dtown location better. Only reason why I frequent this location more is because it is more convenient.
