I was really disappointed with the food. The yams had no flavor at all; they seemed like they were just boiled and placed in a container. The cabbage had a strange taste that reminded me of mac and cheese, but I couldn't quite figure it out. The chicken wings had no flavor either—I tried four of them, smothered in hot sauce, but that didn’t help much, especially since I was starving. I’m sorry to say that the corn muffin was gummy and undercooked. I run and cook for a soul food kitchen, and this experience was far from what I expected. I really don’t understand how this place stays in business with food like that. I ended up spending $20 on what felt like garbage.
Today jan 8, 2023 I was thrown out of this place. First of all me and my family eat there 2-3 times a month because its local and convenient. However I've aways thought they were over price for a 5 table basement restaurant but the food wasn't bad. The staff has no sense of hospitality. As much as week go there it always seems like the first time. Today I ask them to turn down the radio just a little bit and the girl told me NO. I ask to sit us at another table and was still told no. Mind you we the only sit down coustomers in the place. I went off and was ask to leave. That will be my last time there.
The establishment was very clean!!! Upon entering we were greeting with a very pleasant hostess or also doubled as our waitress. The food was excellent and very tastefully prepared. My mom and I had catfish and shrimp and grits. Needless to say we emptied our plates !!!! Best breakfast I’ve had in awhile. We will be returning to the establishment and highly recommend this place for a great southern eatery.
I ordered salmon patties to take away, but I found them inedible. They were covered in an overwhelming amount of crust or coating, which made it difficult to taste the actual salmon. It might have been good if I could have gotten past all that crust. As for parking, they did have designated spots for customers, but they were obstructed by railings. Réservez une table maintenant
They charged me for food they I never received through UberEats. If a customer cancels an order a minute after it was ordered it obviously was not prepared that fast and that customer should not be charged. If so then the order should be delivered. Charging somebody $57 for food and not delivering the food is a scam. BEWAREService: 1/5
I dined at J's for the first time and had an excellent experience! We were seated promptly, and our orders were taken quickly. The food arrived swiftly and was absolutely delicious. The coffee was great as well! Wonderful job overall; I will definitely be back. Food rating: 4/5.
