I have been staying with in-laws in Stony Brook for the last few months because of the pandemic, and have frequented Kai Li multiple times. From the outside it is unassuming with a slightly outdated facade. Don't let this confuse or deter you, because their food is wonderful. We have eaten many of their dishes including sesame chicken, beef and broccoli, as well as a variety of noodle dishes, soups (egg drop soup is really good), and appetizers. We love Kai Li! Owners Gina and Steve are the most kind people they gave us a few free items on big orders. They are generous with portions and have kept fair prices even as other nearby Chinese restaurants have steadily increased theirs. Kai Li has the best sesame chicken in town and an awesome $10 lunch special. Also we've been going to Kai Li for over 15 years truly a neighborhood gem. This is my family's staple choice for Chinese food, it is fast, inexpensive, convenient and some items are done very well. These happen to be ones I frequently get, Gen Tso's, sesame chicken, egg rolls, egg foo young to name a few. Their combo specials are good value and I recommend anyone looking for a quick meal.
