I went into this cafe, I didn’t read the sign saying vegan as we were in a rush and dying for some coffee after a bike ride. The initial welcoming was nice and the man at the till asked if oat milk would be okay....Like I said I didn’t realise it was vegan so I asked for ‘normal milk’. To which I got some lady on a table rudely say to me ‘it’s cow juice’ not normal milk, to which the staff all joined in. I wasn’t there to get a judgement of my life choices. I immediately felt uncomfortable and left. On my way out, I’m assuming the lady on the table was a regular said ‘you’d think they sell breast milk to huh’. I couldn’t believe my ears. VERY easy to find directly opposite the Pencil museum Referred by cafe across the river which was closed due to pile driving! Both of us intrigued, but still skeptic, we went to this pure vegan cafe by coincidence during in Glasgow!...Their coffee was excellent and did not need the extra shot that I ordered and really I could not tell that the oat milk' was not normal dairy milk. Hmm not what we expected! Vegan frozen croissants (imported from France) again seemed like the real' thing and unbelievably the flora pretend butter was also fine. A wonderful place with kind and helpful staff. We had the pasta, bacon and cheese burger, children's fish fingers, meatball flatbread and slow cooked aubergine followed by coffee, chai tea, milkshake, smoothy and cake! We may have got a little over excited at all the...great food and options! All the food was great but we had the most food envy over the burger and the pistachio muffins. we dived in kats kitchen as our last hoorah to keswick and the seen, especially after we have seen that they are totally vegan (for my friend). we were the first customers at the place, greeted with a big hallo, the venue was welcoming and colorful with...viel quirk. we were invited up, sitting on the window to enjoy our full breakfast with a beautiful view of the river. while there were a few hiccups with the breakie: the baked beans were tepid, I had an ersatz toast after taking a dive from the cooking pass, and the boiled tomatos fought back. overall the breakfast was tasteful, colorful and well cooked. as a traditional front I would definitely recommend the menu! I ordered an acai smoothie to eat in. The smoothie was great but I was very disappointed it was served in a disposable plastic glass'. I asked the manager as I was leaving why this was and he said they couldn't get hold of compostable...containers at the moment, I asked why it was necessary to use a disposable container at all for an eat-in drink and I was told it was due to lack of storage space and that anyway the plastic ones were recyclable. Not good enough guys, get with the plastic-free programme! Many people choose vegan restaurants because they care about the environment.
Just came across this cafe while we were in Keswick and had a warm welcome once inside. It has a cosy and relaxed atmosphere. The menu is varied and of course all vegan. I had the Ramon bowl, which was delicious and flavoursome. I also...has had a fresh chamomile tea. My sister had kofters, which she also very much enjoyed. If we're ever in Keswick again I would definitely come back.
