I've eaten here a bunch of times and it's consistently great in terms of the food. Staff are always friendly and on it. Music isn't loud. Atmosphere is pretty nice, except... It ALWAYS smells bad. Not like bad fish. Idk what this smell is but it hits me in the face the moment I walk in the door and I never stop being aware of it. It's like something rotten covered up with cloying cleaning chemical scents. It's been enough to make me mildly nauseous during my meal. If my gf didn't crave this place I wouldn't have returned. The line wasn't too long, as the turnover is relatively quick since they only serve hand rolls. The fish was incredibly fresh, and the service was fantastic. They give you plenty of time between each roll, allowing you to relax after consuming all that rice. The seating consists solely of high bar chairs, and while waiting in line, you can only stand. After I paid, I had to sit in my chair for a while while waiting for my Uber, which made me feel a bit uncomfortable with everyone looking at me, expecting me to leave. I've been visiting this restaurant for years, and they consistently provide excellent hand rolls. The service is quick, and the staff is fantastic. I especially love their rice; it has a nice vinegary flavor and maintains a perfect warm texture without being mushy. The seafood fillings in the hand rolls are well-balanced—not too overpowering or overly seasoned—which really allows you to appreciate their freshness and quality. One thing to note is that the surrounding area can feel a bit sketchy, as it’s in downtown LA, but there is a parking structure right next door.
