We are locals and used to eat at Kenji at least once a fortnight. For the past year the food quality, serving size and cleanliness has declined dramatically. Quite disappointing.The sashimi quality is a little dubious and once or twice we have left there not feeling quite right in the tummy. I hope they realise their loyal customers are dropping off and up their game because they were considered a real gem amongst locals.
This place is owned by japanese, unlike most japanese restaurants in melbourne which are actually run by Chinese. However quality of food is poor. My bento box was all luke warm obviously precooked and just assembled together like food court asian plated. The rice was mushy, too much water. Servings are small too. Eat in menu cost $2 more per item vs takeaway.
This handy little eatery, hidden down a mini-arcade off the main street, has been our go-to place for a top-up of good Japanese food. Friendly service is swift -- as are the prices. Get there early or book as it's always busy. I hope they add tempura to their main menu soon.
Love this little local Japanese for a relaxing meal for two or with friends. Plenty of authentic Japanese favourites to enjoy, served by friendly staff and an owner who aims to please. This has become one of our favourite local restaurants because the food is fabulous !! Réservez une table maintenant
We ordered grilled eggplant, tuna tataki, 4 Nigeria, sashimi gourmet (m) and takoyaki ( octopus ball) very good taste and service was quick. Costing us $ 78 for 2 is cheap for japanese food.Highly recommended. The place is small so book ahead.
Super popular, make sure you book. Food was fast and very nice. The takeaway section looks a bit tacky but the sit down is nice. Staff friendly and efficient. Well priced too $50 for 5 of us (3 kids)
The food is fresh, well cooked and consistent here. Service is quick and well presented. Helpings are not huge, but its a great place which always seems to be full. BYO.

Good busy Japanese restaurant. Service is good. Great bento boxes and sashimi/nigiri. Would be better if there was a toilet though. Very fresh!
