I was in desperate need of a weekend away child free just me and my dog Maggie. The kingsmills is a few hours distance from my home but I have been staying there a fair amount this year. I was hooked after my first stay last April. It is home away from home with MANY bonuses. The initial reception I have received the last 9 times on 12 months has never suffered. We have just returned from a lovely two night break at the Kingsmills Hotel Inverness. This was a re-scheduled visit; our initial booking had to be changed due to family illness and we found the hotel to be very accommodating. We booked a garden room as we were taking our dog with us. The garden room was well appointed with a comfortable bed, two seater sofa and a lovely bathroom. However, we did not have the opportunity of using the fabulous, large shower as the boiler for the hot water packed in for all the garden rooms and could not be fixed immediately. Afternoon tea I would say it was average to good. What we had was lovely, but there was only 1 savoury option (sandwiches only). A lot of the afternoon teas I’ve had always have a 50/50 selection of sweet and savoury to cater for different preferences. What was on the stand was lovely don’t get me wrong but the overall experience wasn’t that special. My friend had to wave someone over to ask for a top up of hot drinks and it seemed to take quite a while to bring the food out which I find odd when it wasn’t overall busy and it’s pre booked. During our stay at the hotel, we dined at the restaurant where they offered a £35 two-course or a £43 three-course menu. Unfortunately, the brown crab and smoked haddock risotto was incredibly disappointing. It had a gelatinous consistency with no flavor, reminiscent of baby food. The shrimp cocktail contained frozen prawns, and the risotto even had uncooked spaghetti sprinkled on top. The steaks ordered medium rare were also not cooked correctly. The only redeeming dish was the floating island dessert, which consisted of meringue, coconut sorbet, and tropical fruit. Overall, the experience was subpar, and the only reason this restaurant doesn't receive a zero rating is due to the dessert.

We had the most excellent dinner in the Conservatory Restaurant. From the Restaurant Host to the waiting staff who looked after us so well there is a clear commitment to ensuring everyone enjoys their time in the restaurant. The service was excellent and so well paced. It was always attentive but never overbearing. The food and wines were just excellent. My wife has a number of food allergies which were all so well accommodated. Overall it was one of our best eating out experiences in a very long time. We loved the relaxed and comfortable surroundings making the restaurant a perfect choice for all occasions. Thank you to all the so very good staff who made our evening.
Hotel staff were perfect. So nice and friendly. Honestly best customer service I've had. The downside was that our first room had no hot water and weak shower pressure. Also no convenient plug fittings near the bed. The perfect staff then upgraded us and our room had great hot water, although the shower pressure was still a little low. The room then was too cold. The thermostat didn't appear to be very accurate in adjusting. Really enjoyed my staff. The breakfast was good value and at extended times. Would definitely return. Also great location and convenient parking.
We had a super break and were absolutely delighted with the courtesy and professionalism of ALL the staff. The meet and greet and desk staff , dining staff, breakfast staff, and bar staff can only be highly commended. Whoever runs the training program has done an excellent job. well done to all. I should be c hope that this feedback reaches staff ears as they deserve a pat on the back!!
Once again, it was a pleasure to have lunch in the conservatory. The food was consistently excellent and the staff were lovely and polite. It is always nice to end the meal with tea in the lounge. I am never disappointed when I visit this restaurant. It was a great overall experience. Thank you to everyone once again.

We went for afternoon tea. I have to say, it was superb. There was endless supplies of hot drinks. There was plenty to eat. Everything was so fresh. It was all so delicious. On top of that, the staff were superb and really looked after us
