Kleehof in der Gaertnerstadt

I came here with a colleague and we both loved it so much we came back the next day, her last day in Bamberg, even though we had already dined here. Everything was superb, delicious food, fine service, good drinks. Saturday the place was full,...Sunday a bit bare, it makes me worry whether Bamberg can support such an excellent place if not, be sure to come and enjoy it while it's still going strong. I hope it's here for a long time. We had the trout tartare, deceptively simple, but bite after bite is a real pleasure. Some of the other items were tempting, but you can't go wrong with the tartare appetiser. For main courses, my colleague had the halibut (Heilbutt . (They have an English language menu, so if you don't speak German, just ask for the English menu. I have to admit that I always think halibut is one of the most perfect fishes. They do a simple but utterly delicious version of it. And the accompanying vegetables are also good. I had the Wiener schnitzel. It's the genuine thing (some places give you pork instead of veal, and it's OK but not nearly as good here you get the real thing . I don't eat potatoes so they gave me more salad, which is good, though I think if you like potatoes those are good too. For drinks, we are partial to sparkling wines. They offered two by the glass, both are good. We liked the Cuvee better than the other, but the difference dwindled after multiple sips. Maybe the other is more an acquired taste, while the Cuvee is instantly charming. But we ended up ordering a second glass of each, even though the initial plan was to figure out which was best and stick with that. Classy, elegant surroundings, fine food, good service this is a great asset for Bamberg. I hope it stays here for 20 years, but if is is short lived, don't miss out!

We had a very nice dinner here, service was great, the setting was nice, the atmosphere for a Tuesday night was quite good overall, as it was only about 1/3 full. While we enjoyed our dinners, we all agreed that we thought that maybe too... a lot of effort in producing unique presentation and taste versus good taste. The surprise tapas were probably the best against our entrées and definitely the Brie Dessert missed the brand a bit. Overall a fine dining experience, would probably look elsewhere the next time, especially considering the price.

After seeing the TripAdvisor ratings, our expectations for Kleehof were quite high. Clear dishes are from traditional German cuisine and absolutely no harm in it. Unfortunately, the execution left much to be desired. For example, the sad soft crust on the white carving, the lukewarm...wines, who does not ask to cook the steak(rare, medium, well made). All in all dissappointing and not recommended.

From the usual tourist traces in the heart of the gardening district. A wonderful find. Immaculate food in a modern but traditional environment with friendly and attentive staff. Dog-friendly, which was great, we will definitely be back.

Bright, open restaurant, good service. Local wines and cuisine prepared with skill. Just walk right in front of the main hiking area.
