Kukui Cafe has been a staple at the far end of Chinatown Cultural Plaza along Kukui Street for decades. You wouldn’t expect it to be one of the longest-standing restaurants there, but it truly is. Some of my friends have been regulars since childhood and still visit from time to time. As the original Hong Kong-style cafe in the Plaza, Kukui Cafe holds a special place in the community. I’ve only been a few times—once or twice with my grandpa and a couple of times with my boss—but I never really remembered the food. So, I decided it was time for a revisit. The cafe is conveniently located inside Chinatown Cultural Plaza, where you can park in the garage with validation or opt for metered park...

I had a last-minute work potluck and was searching for restaurants that opened early enough for me to place a phone order and pick it up on the way to work. After browsing several options, Kukui Cafe made it to my top three because they opened at 7 AM and were just 10 minutes from my workplace. It had been over 10 years since my last visit, so I was a bit uncertain about whether the flavors would still be as good as I remembered, but I decided to take a chance and call them the next morning. I chose my favorite dish, the Shredded Pork Crispy Noodles, for the potluck. They prepared my order promptly and even packaged the sauce and noodles separately to ensure the noodles remained crispy! This café is a delightful hidden gem that offers authentic food and drinks from Hong Kong. It’s not fancy—just a laid-back spot perfect for casual dining. I’ve visited three times while traveling from out of state, and if you enjoy wontons, you’ll definitely appreciate their genuine wontons served in a homemade bone broth soup with baby bok choy. They also have a fantastic beef noodle soup, along with many other great options! Their drinks are quite impressive as well. The breakfast items, including sandwiches (which are served without crusts), are excellent too! On top of that, the prices are very reasonable. I highly recommend checking this place out if you’re in the Chinatown area; it’s l...

I've been visiting this little "hole-in-the-wall" for years, possibly even decades, but I hadn't returned since the new owners took over. I was a bit hesitant because I had formed a bond with the previous owners, who poured so much love into their food. I'm delighted to say that the food is still just as excellent! I ordered the soup noodles with pork and pickled vegetables, and it was exactly as I remembered. The soup base was flavorful, and the noodles were cooked to perfection. I also added the salt and pepper chicken wings for good measure, and they were fantastic as well! If you're in the mood for HK-style cafe food, this is the place to go! Réservez une table maintenant

This is a small little hidden gem of a cafe that offers authentic foods and drinks of Hong Kong. Nothing fancy, a super casual authentic. Been here three times (from out of state). If you like wonton, they offer authentic won ton in their homemadebone broth soup w/baby boy choy; along with beef stew in soup w/noodles (to name a few) both delish! Also got some of theirdrinks, really good. Breakfast and breakfast sandwiches are great (crustless) and yummy too! Very reasonably pricedmenu. High recommend if you in the Chinatown area (located at the cultural plaza)

This restaurant serves traditional Hong Kong café-style dishes. The owner is incredibly friendly, and the food is always excellent. Although the seating is somewhat limited, I often opt for takeout. I've been visiting this place since high school, and I have consistently found the prices to be affordable and the food delightful.

This place is great for breakfast. Prices are okay. Coffee is $2 hot $3.5 cold. They also have other chinese desert drinks. Order and pay first then they bring food to your table. Parking is plenty in the back and on the street. Free first 30 minutesfor the back parking lot. 8-10 tables. Seats can be limited during peak hours.

I had an amazing experience! The wings and fried rice were the best I've ever had, and I enjoyed the hot noodle soup with stewed beef and choy sum. The staff were very friendly as well. Réservez une table maintenant

The best Hong Kong-style Ice Lemon Tea on the island can be found here. The Hong Kong milk tea is also quite delicious.
