We had such a lovely time at Kyo! We were a group of 5 sat outside, that then changed to a group of 4, and then back to a 5 - but our waiter, Pascal, was so lovely and accommodating (thank you, Pascal, for your patience with us while numbers were being sorted!).The boys started with a round of beers, while us ladies all had a Pinky Ginger. It's a delightful and fresh cocktail - careful, because they're VERY easy to keep drinking!Pascal informed us that everything is served in a tapas style, so everything is easy to share. We decided on the kalbi beef, kakuni pork, okonomiyaki crepe, agedashi tofu, a mixed platter of sashimi and spicy salmon sushi - no one was disappointed. My personal favour...

Traveling in Montreal, we were looking for top sushi restaurants and this one came up. Being from the Maritimes, we are perfectly bilingual but our waitress had such a hard time understanding our (and i quote) ''funny accent'' that we had to speak to her in English. We waited over 40 minutes for our food (we made a reservation but in her defense it was quite busy, I've waited on tables for 10 years so i can sympathize with an overwhelmed kitchen) and we ended up with only one meal out of three....She blamed her mistakes on not being able to understand us properly and made us pay for meals we did not even get the chance to enjoy...170$ not well spent !

We recently visited Kyo. Our food was excellent and the service was fantastic. Our server, Guillaume, was fantastic. He told us all about the specials and walked us through each course of the tasting menu. Even gave us a heads up as to how long the tasting menu takes (hint: about 1.5 hours). Once the food arrived it was excellent. Seared tuna, shrimp tempura, miso and sake cod, and finally sashimi. My only complaint was that the bar staff doesn't really know what a Martini is. Tried to order one very dry, up with olives and I had to walk them through how to make it.Other than that, everything was great.

While we loved staying at the hotel that this restaurant is connected to this place was our only real food miss of our 4 day trip. The apps were ok very small chicken wings, uninspired and overdressed udon and ok calamari. We then had the chef choice 30 piece dinner. While the fish that was there was actually pretty good most of the plate was imitation crab meat and avocado. It felt more like owner or food cost manager’s choice instead of the chef showcasing his skills Réservez une table maintenant

Service was excellent and they were very accommodating to dietary restrictions. However the sushi was a bit overdone and complicated without being flavorful. It was fresh but too much filler. It is also very dark and very noisy. The upside is that they are open late.

Very good Japanese restaurant with attentive waiters and waitresses. You have to book in advance because the restaurant is very popular. Our dishes were delicious: the Nigiri assortment and the Bibimbap in particular. The Yuzu donuts were famous. To recommend

If you are dining with your family, be prepared to spend at least $100 CAD per person including drinks. The food was excellent, with all dishes receiving high praise. The service was also top-notch. Make sure to book ahead as the restaurant is always busy.

We chose to eat at artisan on our last night in Montreal and so glad we did one of the best meals we’ve had on this trip! I judge the quality of Japanese restaurants by their tempura and mine was the best ever! Sashimi serving was quite generous too. Réservez une table maintenant
