Notwithstanding that we booked on line at the restaurants web site and receiving confirmation, upon arrival they had no knowledge of our booking. Instead of being shown into the formal room at the rear of the restaurant we were shown a table at a seperate room at the front of the restaurant, sitting by ourselves. So far not a good start. We were then asked if we would like Perrier or Bardot water, we asked for Bardo. It was the pink bottle which sells for around 1€. We were surprised when a French couple who arrived later and received a pitcher of water, compared to ours for which we were charged an excessive 5€, oh to be tourists. Nous avons visité cet endroit et nous aurions préféré ne pas le faire. Nous avons dû attendre vingt minutes seulement pour commander une boisson. Le service était inégal et nous sommes partis sans le dernier plat tellement c'était mauvais. Trois heures pour un menu dégustation en cinq plats, ce n'est pas génial. Il y avait une seule employée qui était débordée en essayant de servir la nourriture de tout le monde, de servir des boissons et de tenir la réception en même temps. Ce n'est pas ce que vous attendez d'un restaurant de ce calibre ! La climatisation ne fonctionnait pas et la salle était très chaude et insupportable vers la fin. Ensuite, parlons de la nourriture. Excellent surprise after two other restaurants were unable to accommodate 5 people for lunch in Sancerre with a week advanced notice. After Covid-19 this restaurant has come back to gain a deserved place in top restaurants list of the area. The service,in a sophisticated elegant setting was excellent. The food was delicious offering fresh regional options on beautifully displayed plates. The Chef accommodated a vegeterian member of our group with an astonishing as well as delicious option. We will certainly make advance reservation for lunch when we return to Sancerre.
Nous avons été pleinement satisfaits du dîner. Peut-être que nous n'aurions pas choisi du veau, puis de la morue pour notre plat principal, mais les présentations étaient superlativement belles et délicieuses, donc nous n'avons aucune plainte. Le dessert était exceptionnel, digne d'une étoile. Madame, la femme du chef, la propriétaire si c'est un mot, était charmante, efficace et extraordinairement travailleuse. Nous la saluons ! just lovely food, lots of interesting things to start with, bits and pieces, all delicious. We chose 2 different ways of foie gras, both wonderful. Then we had fish which was cooked to perfection with tasty veg by the side. Too tired to eat cheese, pudding was yummy. Service was attentive and prompt.
