After a long drive from the Spizce family road trip, we went to what looked the most appealing restaurant near our ‘Ibis Budget’ and went to the right place in the end. With some very tired colleagues, Junior Spizce tucked into a ‘menu enfant’ and enjoyed her steak and ice cream, however she was disappointed she did not get her promised free gift at the end. Myself and Big Spicze had the €18.75 menu, with the latter enduring a beetroot and soft goats cheese tart, which she commented was, “a little bit dry.” We both had the ‘Suprise de Bouchier’ which was very tender. Spizce Sr. also had the same menu, but had an enjoyable patté garnished with some delicious cornichons and had the ‘Panachè de bouchier’ which was mildly disappointing and he had envy of the ‘Surprise de Bouchier’. Puddings were excellent, especially the choux buns. Service was friendly but did enjoy a giggle about Spizce Sr.’s poor French. Overall very good for a quick stop on the road and would recommend.
La qualité était très mauvaise, j'ai pris leur entrecôte de 300g, bleue, mais elle était froide et bien moins que 300g. La seule bonne chose était leur os à moelle. Ma femme a eu un tartare de saint-jacques et de truite de très mauvaise qualité, suivi d'une araignée, qui était bonne mais plus petite que les 180g promis sur le menu. L'apéritif, un crémant de Loire, était de très mauvaise qualité, le vin de la maison était à peine acceptable. Pas du tout digne du prix demandé.
Waited too long to be seated, asked a medium rare « araignee » and got a piece of rubbery sole hard boiled style meat, and my beer was delivered half way in the meal... of course the waitress was new, bear with her, but the rest of the crew is hopeless, and better to go next door to burger king. Prices are far too high for the quality. Dessert are picard frozen food style, and clearly are not home made.
As we were on our way up north we stopped by in order to charge our car and walked about 5 minutes to reach this nice restaurant specialized in meat. It was all we wished for: quick service, good meat and prices. A safe choice to avoid any disappointment in this rather gloomy area. The manager is a very nice and helpful lady.
