"We visited Saturday evening to celebrate my wife's birthday. We had the family style eating. Food was excellent especially the homemade pasta however we were disappointed by the low level of engagement by the waiting staff. Not sure if we would return."

Perfect in every way. I had some trepidation at the outset, as I unfortunately have to adhere to a gluten-free diet. To my very pleasant surprise, I was treated like gluten-free royalty at La Buca. As we were a party of eight, we were served family style, with a succession of dishes - appetizers, pastas, mains, desserts - brought for all to share. The waiter was knowledgeable about which dishes contained gluten and which did not. I was accommodated with a beautiful salad in place of one of the appetizers, and with a delicious risotto while others enjoyed the pasta course. we are new to town and decided to try a small restaurant in our neighbourhood for a quick Friday night out. Well...what a wonderful surprise! Evidently we were one of the few in Vancouver who didn't know what a gem this little Italian restaurant is. It was busy. The menu and the wine list were great and had something for everyone. Because of the few tables, the cuisine and the service the evening was stellar. Too bad we had to leave as the table was booked for the next sitting. If you want exceptional Italian cuisine and good service you need to make a reservation and dine there. We're going back with friends.
I am hesitant to post a review of La Buca. My wife and I have been eating here for several years. It is our favourite restaurant in Vancouver! It is small cozy spot in a strip mall in Arbutus Ridge. Reservations essential. My fear is that it will be overrun. Italian food using local fresh ingredients. Several specials each night that change daily. The cooking here is inspired and excellent. Service is exceptional. The wine list is exclusively Italian and well chosen.Having said all that maybe you should stay away so we can eat here when we want.
Unless you're lucky you will need a reservation here. Good Italian with an excellent wine list. Service depends on who you get, the nice one or the one with attitude. Don't let it spoil your dinner you just need to be firm and don't take offence everybody gets the same treatment. Some excellent starters, good consistent pasta dishes (available in half orders) Suggest you ask if they will be serving any large parties. Very small dining room but it did not lead to a very private experience as it was quite loud. Food was very delicious but had very small portion size. Little disappointed with the carbonara but loved the veal. The staff was helpful and friendly. With it's prices I would just prefer a more compete dining experience. May give it another try as you can bring your own wine.
There were eleven of us that came together to celebrate the Christmas season and the year that's about to pass. We ate our meal family style. 2 appetizers, 3 pastas, a fish and a neat dish followed by two desserts. La buca is a small place but a great place for big appetites in search of great flavor. We all enjoyed ourselves.
Enjoyed an excellent dinner at this Italian bistro. Dinner with friends. We ordered four different dishes and we all enjoyed every bite. There was nothing left on our plates. Nice wine list with price point options. Service was excellent. Busy place so you definitely need reservations.
This is one of the best Italian restaurants I have been to anywhere in North America (including San Francisco and New York). Excellent food, good service, and a cozy atmosphere. But for its out of the way location, I'm guessing this would be rated much higher (top 20) in Vancouver. Réservez une table maintenant
This tiny little place has a cozy atmosphere and excellent food. You must have a reservation as it is very small and very popular. We went with friends and booked about 2 weeks in advance. We had an excellent meal in a place steeped in ambiance. Great for a special night!
