"Also a logis, but we only ate there and we're glad we did. It was a Sunday evening and many restaurants in Tournon sur Rhone were closed, but this opened at 19.00 and did not disappoint. The welcome was warm, the building was a quaint old beamed place and the food lovely."

This is an old building, no refurbishing or fancy decoration and that’s just perfect! The food couldn’t be more traditional, although the chef tries to put some fancy touches here and there, while decorating the plates, what really counts is there: hearty old school French cuisine. I had cote de veau and he had carre d’ agneau, both cooked to perfection, juicy and soft. The fromages are well worth asking for. The desserts, although we didn’t order, were gigantic; not at all french style. But I saw a very traditionally creme brule going by. All patrons were French, either locals or tourists from other parts of France, and this is a good indication of the quality of the food here. The wine list, however, isn’t so great, but nothing that would harm the overall experience.

This small restaurant, attached to the hotel of the same name, is a Logis, which we find are generally good. When we arrived at 19.30, there were six people in the restaurant which seats around 30 inside and a few more outside. Within half an hour, almost all seats were taken. We went for the menu of the day, good value at €19.50 for three courses. We both had tomato and peach starter, a rather unusual mixture but one that worked. Main course choices were chicken or bavette and we had one of each. Both were good, well cooked, well presented and hot. There were two dessert choices and we opted for Baveroire, which was excellent. With a beer, a bottle of local wine and coffee, the bill was around €60 which we felt was very reasonable.

This excellent restaurant was situated in a historic building close to the river. The four of us were warmly welcomed and shown to our table. We loved the fact that we were the only non-French speakers there, were given a menu in French and had to speak French – everyone was very patient with our efforts. Everything we ordered was most enjoyable and included soupe de poisson, scallops in a delicious sauce, trout with almonds, veal, duck, crème brulee with rose, profiteroles and divine ice cream – chocolate, coffee and mint. Thoroughly recommended – we hope to return one day.

Enjoyed a room for 3 with the bathroom in the tower section. Entertaining to say the least. Dinner was good and falls in line with the more vintage style of this hotel. For people who want the latest of the latest this is probably not for their taste but we rather like this more retro feeling.
