This is a pleasant place, the food is quite good but not special, as we found it. We booked earlier in the day, but the table was at the back somewhat out of the way, we felt a bit put in a corner. They were quite busy. The initial service was a little slow, but we got our aperitifs, which were the house cocktail which was nice. We appreciated that one could just choose two courses; my husband likes an entrée and main course, I like a main course and dessert, I don't think this is unusual but it was queried several times through the meal by different waiters and waitresses we were served by three different people which always bothers me. We chose the cheapest menu, we're not poor or mean but didn't want a blow out. I wondered why they proposed two courses if they thought it was strange or unacceptable to choose two courses. Fish soup was good, possibly even home made which is unusual. Main fish courses were just OK, the skate wing better than the pollack (lieu), not much accompaniment, the sauce vierge a bit sharp and uninteresting. Chocolate pudding fine, unremarkable, slightly dry. Had to ask twice for husband's coffee which we asked to have at the same time as my dessert. Overall there was a bit too much waiting and lack of communication between the serving staff. This means, for us, we drink rather too much wine without much food, which ends up making us tired and a bit jaded. Though they served us a couple of tasty little amuse bouches to begin with which we enjoyed. These are details, I'm not a compulsive fault finder, and on another occasion if one was ordering more expensively, or arrived a bit earlier (we came at 8 o'clock, not unreasonable) we might have had a better experience. Perhaps we were a bit tired and difficult to please. I'd say try it, but another time we'd go back to the Ker Louis.
