A warm welcome from Bernard, the patron, who was extremely attentive throughout the evening. His wife is the chef. The menu was exciting - not a huge choice, which is always a good sign, and it changes daily. We both had the foie gras as a starter (although I was very tempted by the escargots a la creme), served with pear chutney and a green leaf salad with a delicious honey and cassis dressing. My husband then had partridge with red cabbage and I had the ravioli with crayfish - divine! I was not able to manage a dessert, but my husband had a delicious nut and dried fruit tart. It is just not as good as it was. Food was very average and as a restaurateur it is too easy to see when food is not cooked fresh. I understand that they are cooking for large numbers but in my opinion they are prioritising speed of service over quality. Too many dishes pre prepped and heated up to order Service was great and the atmosphere is still good but the food is a big let down. I will eat elsewhere and come for drinks at Folie Douce in the future a shame as I have eaten at La Fruitiere every year since 2012.
This is our third visit to La Fruitiere and we love it here. There is always a good selection of local produce. The owners are lovely and always have time for a quick chat, and happy to make wine recommendations (we had a kir, then a white with starters and a red with the main - all were excellent).I had a lovely salad with chicken livers and then a risotto, both of which were v good.They now have a small outside seating area on the square, which seemed nice, with a local musician playing when we were there.
Depuis le temps qu’on voulait tester. Merci les Anglais, enfin. Nos attentes ont été comblées. Nous avons tout d’abord été particulièrement bien reçus par Laurine. Et les plats étaient particulièrement bons devant une vue spectaculaire ! Nous avons passé un très bon moment.
