"We heard this was a new place to eat in Monetier, so tried it out. A very warm welcome from the host & his family. Food locally sourced & a good choice of wines (the owner also owns the nearby wine shop). A daily changing menu wich was deliciously tasty, and at the end of the meal, the best espresso I've had in a long time."

Dinner at La Fruitiere was a delightful experience. On arrival, we were greeted by Bernard, the patron, who speaks excellent English. He is absolutely charming, and has a wonderful sense of humour. His wife does the cooking in the the little kitchen. The restaurant is simply furnished. Everything on the menu is locally sourced - and Bernard knows the precise 'provenance' of every ingredient. He offers a simple menu du jour, for a very reasonable price, with just three dishes in each section. Each dish is very local in style, and they are essentially country fare with no pretensions to fine dining. Everything we had was absolutely delicious - especially the dish combining smoked trout with local sausage on a bed of lentils. Be prepared to try something different as there are none of the 'usuals' on the menu! Bernard has a short wine list, and he will recommend the best match to go with the food. I highly recommend La Fruitiere to anyone who wants to experience somewhere truly local and charming.

A warm welcome from Bernard, the patron, who was extremely attentive throughout the evening. His wife is the chef. The menu was exciting - not a huge choice, which is always a good sign, and it changes daily. We both had the foie gras as a starter (although I was very tempted by the escargots a la creme), served with pear chutney and a green leaf salad with a delicious honey and cassis dressing. My husband then had partridge with red cabbage and I had the ravioli with crayfish - divine! I was not able to manage a dessert, but my husband had a delicious nut and dried fruit tart. The wine list was also interesting - Bernard owns the nearby Cave a Vins. We had a Pic Saint Loup which we both thought delicious. We wanted to go back the following night, but they were full, so we bought a bottle of the same wine from Bernard's Cave instead! 22 Euros for 2 courses, 27 Euros for three - tremendous value!

This is our third visit to La Fruitiere and we love it here. There is always a good selection of local produce. The owners are lovely and always have time for a quick chat, and happy to make wine recommendations (we had a kir, then a white with starters and a red with the main - all were excellent).I had a lovely salad with chicken livers and then a risotto, both of which were v good. They now have a small outside seating area on the square, which seemed nice, with a local musician playing when we were there.

We returned 6 months after our previous visit & headed straight to La Fruitiere for dinner. Once again, it didn't disappoint. Menu du jour lovely-Joe had soup & I had a salad with ewe's cheese. For mains, I had a local pasta speciality which was really good & Joe had lamb. The owner recommended a lovely wine & we also enjoyed the best Kir we've had in France.Cheese & dessert rounded off a perfect evening.
