My husband and I, like the previous reviewer, decided to walk over to LaGuardia Cafe from the Hampton Inn for dinner. It turned out to be a fantastic decision. We opted for the steak and onions as well as the Cuban style shrimp dishes. Each dish came with soup, salad, beans, and rice - more than enough food for 3 or 4 people. I suggest ordering one meal and an appetizer to share for two people, and if you're still hungry, you can always order more. The service we received was top-notch.
An easy walking distance from the Marriott and other airport hotels, this restaurant is a delight. Inexpensive, with really generous portions and friendly service, it provides a welcome alternative to hotel meals. Fried cheese and mashed plantain along with the eggs at breakfast were an unexpectedly delicious treat. And the coffee, served in enormous cups, was some of the best I've ever tasted. This small cafe does get crowded at lunch, so allow sufficient time it's worth the wait!

After dealing with the traffic around La Guardia, we returned our rental car and took a shuttle to our hotel near La Guardia Airport. We walked for ten minutes to reach the café. I ordered the "Coconut Fish" dish, which turned out to be one of the best grouper meals I've ever had (possibly the best). Rosa, our server, was friendly and accommodating. All the dishes are made from scratch, so if you're in a hurry, they also offer popular options from their steam table.
with the traffic overload around la guardia we turned into our car rental and drove directly at the airport la guardia to our hotel. we have made a 10-minute walk to cafe. I had “Coconut Fish”. it was one of the best groupers (and most likely the best) groupers I had. pink was helpful and patient. everything is freshly cooked by scratches, so if their time is limited, they have food in a steam table that seemed very popular.
as the last review, mean man and I went to dinner to the laguardia cafe from the hampton inn. it was an excellent choice. we ordered steak and swirl and Cuban garnel. everyone came with suppe, salat, beef and rice. there was enough food for 3 or 4. my recommendation is to order a meal and an appetizer for two. if they happen to have hunger, they can order more. the service was superior.
The place was tiny, and a lot of the orders are take out (as a matter of fact, we saw several work trucks double park, guys run in and grab their food and off they went). The food servings are huge and the gals working the counter are friendly and hardworking. Thank you Rachel, Cristina and Fior!
