We had a lovely trip here 3 years ago and so thought we would enjoy a return visit when we came back to Cenac. We were very wrong. Granted, we arrived with no reservation but they didn't turn us away, offering us a table instead. We ordered drinks and food (just 2 mains) fairly smoothly, using the tick box order form we were given. After about 25 minutes we still hadn't received our food but the waitress came to offer us desserts or coffee! We said we were waiting for mains and she apparently went off to sort this - but another 20 minutes later and still nothing. After traipsing for days around the Dordogne with 2 kids in tow - climbing medieval fortifications, biking and canoeing the meandering river - all in 35C+ weather - we came upon this fortuitous respite one lunch hour. We ended up spending an enitre afternoon here. Great food, wine, beer and service in a spectacularly beautiful setting AND at an affordable price point. The staff were busy but friendly - remember when in France, smile, be polite and always attempt to order in french = most servers get a kick out of us travelers maiming their language. laughter breaks the ice.Did I mention the ice cream sundaes? What a truly stunning location, with the slow flowing dore river running just yards away, and the stunning town of Domme on the hill above with the sun setting in the background, this beautiful dordogne town has many very nice expensive and well priced eateries serving a variety of foods, mainly expensive french or expensive fast food french with many of the waiting staff having the manner of waiters in Paris of ten years ago, however this expensive french fast food joint had location, tasty food, expensive prices and staff that were just remarkable in their ability to just be wishing you were not there because you stopped them flirting with other staff or having a sly fag every few minutes,...
Je suis venu ici pour manger et boire, je suis resté toute la journée ! Bel environnement, personnel très sympathique et la nourriture était incroyable. Nous avons pris la pizza fraîchement cuite, très classique et délicieuse. Le personnel est très serviable et beaucoup d'entre eux parlent anglais, ce qui est un plus. Il y a également un endroit pour faire du kayak et du canoë juste à côté, sur une belle rivière. Le paysage et les barmen principaux étaient à couper le souffle. Très recommandé !
My wife and I recently stayed in the area and found La Guinguette on our first night. The menu is snack based, pizzas, burgers, croquet monsieurs etc. We had pizza the first night which was really good and burger another day at lunch. The location is beautiful, riverside views like this in the UK would cost a premium but the prices at La Guinguette are very reasonable. Will definitely come back when we're in the region next.
Un groupe de quatre adultes est arrivé pour le déjeuner après une excursion en canoë. Emplacement très pratique sur les rives de la rivière, à côté de la location de canoë. Nous avons reçu un service rapide et efficace. Nous avons commandé trois types de pizza différents et une salade. Tous les plats étaient de bonne qualité et bien cuisinés. C'était un déjeuner très agréable et peu coûteux avec une vue magnifique.
Spotted this place from road and stopped for lunch. Plenty of shaded parking. Lovely out door seating with shade overlooking the Dordogne. A stopping off place for canoe's. Menu has large choice and priced very well. We had a medium size steak. Was cooked perfectly and very tasty. Arrived in reasonable time. Gentleman that served us very friendly and helpful with order and our French.
Quelle découverte fantastique! Les pizzas artisanales sont absolument délicieuses, à ne pas manquer! La viande grillée, les pommes frites maison, les cocktails faits à la main, les glaces artisanales avec une vue magnifique sur la rivière, que demander de plus? Le personnel était agréable et très serviable, je ne pourrais pas recommander cet endroit davantage!
Au bord de la rivière, le restaurant Tavern propose de la restauration rapide et des boissons. Idéal pour les hamburgers, les frites et les boissons.... De la bonne nourriture simple au bon endroit quand vous le souhaitez. surtout si vous faites un long voyage en canoë sur la rivière
