La Kitchenette is a charming little place with quirky decoration. Service is good and friendly, and the food is superb. On our most recent visit, we had the French Onion Soup (which we always get when we go there, it is so good! , the Boeuf Bourguignon, and the Chicken Doria. After we found out this place was going to close down, we had to try it out. We could not find any reservations. Luckily, we were able to get takeouts. Oh boy, it did not disappointed. We got the dinner for 2 package deal that they had for Tuesdays. The package included French onion soups and beef bourguignon. The beef bourguignon was rich in flavors. It had a lot of the red wine flavor which I was not a big fan of. I don't like red wines. But the beef was so tender and so good with the mashed potatoes that I overlooked the red wine smell. We have been fans of La Kitchenette for the past 4 years. It is with heavy hearts that we bid farewell to this beloved restaurant, but we are looking forward to what the future may bring. We always enjoy trying their specials, whether it's the duck or their deliciously unique meatballs. The fondant dessert is absolutely heavenly and we never leave without ordering it, no matter how full we are. For dinner, expect to spend about $30–50 per person. The food, service, and atmosphere all receive top ratings from us. We highly recommend trying their Assiette De Charcuterie for sharing and their Fondant Au Chocolat dessert.
I was lucky enough to have the opportunity to visit La Kitchenette before they permanently closed. The food was absolutely delicious and the service was excellent. I only wish I had discovered this gem sooner so I could have tried more of their menu. We happened upon this adorable French Homestyle Cafe for brunch, and we are so glad we did. Reservations are recommended, but we lucked out with an open table. The atmosphere was so charming and intimate, the food was incredible, and the service was great. We will be bringing friends with us next time. This is my favorite place in Madison to eat. When they set the food down I go absolutely feral. The green french toast is my top 5 favorite things to eat on this planet and tastes like someone loves you.
