I've driven past La Perla several times over the last 5 years but I hadn't come in as there's always one person that doesn't like seafood or the odd vegetarian in my family. When I saw this big sign saying, they now serve wood fired pizzas - I thought it was a good time to check it out. Only they didn't serve wood fired pizzas when I got there. Whaaat? (I thought to myself). The mains come out. There are a few fish mains that were ordered by the non-vegetarians including the boneless flat head fish ($34) and the John Dory Fillets ($38). The restuarant is spacious between tables and comfortable. I thought they could have the background music a little more discernable (without being too loud).The pizza is authentic Italian style with a beautiful thin base and a very tasty tomato sauce and being wood fired perfectly was a treat. I have been to Italy and tasted pizza all around and it ranks up there. The seafood was well cooked and good serving size too.Try the 3 cheese stuffed zuchini flowers - very nice.
Had the pleasure of visiting La Perla again. Hadn't been there for about 10 years. The service was excellent but value for money was poor. Penne pasta with crab meat $29 and some lobster meat and it turns into a special at $95. I was told it was a whole lobster but the amount of meat on the plate appeared to be half a lobster. Took a photo as I couldn't believe what I received, was even more surprised when the bill came.
We went there for lunch.Shared starters of octopus tentacles and type of scallop dish. It was delicious For main .... I had the white fish with a spicy tomato based sauce cooked with mixed seafood on a bed of rice. It was wow and service was great.Perfect place to have lunch.

Fresh seafood, great service. I had the garlic, chili prawns...delicious. Hubby had the scampi. The lobster was perfect and value for money. The staff friendly. I would recommend this restaurant.
If you want entree and main that will excite your palate you can't go past the flour and fried school prawns and for mains the griilled Red Emperor with a glass of Sauvignon Blanc

Excellent food. Had my wife and I wedding reception at La Perla two years ago and food was to die for, Love the tuna carpaccio and the specials board.

I think I was there when it opened and there when it closed 30+ years later . Sorry to see The Great La Perla close , But happy retirement George
