Pretty much the first thing I do when going into a new restaurant is order a drink and tell the waiter I am vegetarian and ask if this will be a problem. I did the same here on our first visit. It was the day after a bank holiday and most places were closed. The sun was shining and so we sat out on the terrace. We had a drink and the waiter sauntered past and plonked a small plate of cheese and ham on the table to accompany our drinks...obviously we explained again and he took it away. Starters arrived, assiette de crudités and that was very good. However, the bread basket we were given had a hand rolling cigarette filter in it....perhaps not the best sign of things to come.I'd ordered a cheese omelette with fries and it was well cooked and tasty until I started to find pieces of the same ham that were on the cheese and toast....needless to say I didn't continue to eat it. My wife had fish and said it was very good, but my omelette had clearly been cooked in the same pan used to cook ham, or the kitchen staff are sloppy.Paid up and left declaring never to visit again. Really, i is not hard to cater for vegetarians and people with special dietary requirements. I'm vegetarian through choice and accept that sometimes things go wrong, but what if I was allergic to ham?
