This morning we decided to visit Mont Ventoux. In coming down we passed a restaurant that looked very appealing with a nice place to sit outdoor and we thought it was a great place for lunch. We parked and went to the outdoor area and thought to be lucky, as there were two tables next to each other, so we could seat our party of eight. I was with my husband and kids and my parents, who are two elderly people. We waited for a while to ask if we could take a seat. When no one came, we presumed it was ok and started to move the tables closer together and sit. At that moment a female waiter stormed outside and started screaming that we could not do that and that she had no time to serve us. The terrace was full of people. Everyone saw the scene she made. We were appalled and in utter shock of the way she addressed us. It was worse than screaming at animals. My husband said we understand, but that she could have addressed us in a friendly or at least a polite way. Upon that she turned and started talking to people at a full table and laughing with them. Perhaps in an attempt to save face, because a lot of people were as shocked as we were and nodded to me in understanding. Never have we been more humiliated. Unfortunately I cannot comment on the food, but the sheer nerve of talking to people like that in itself is wort the trouble of writing this review. I want to warn families not to go there and save yourselves the same humiliating experience.

I am not sure I have EVER been treated so appallingly because of my nationality this restaurant dares to cross the line. A friend and I had cycled up Mont Ventoux from Bedouin and descended down the other side looking for cold beer and delicious fare so as we approached this lovely looking restaurant as the base of Mont Ventoux with shady trees we pulled and problems started from the off. We were the only guests not offered a menu all the other French guests were left with lovely looking menus, secondly we noticed we were the only guests who didn’t have paper place mats over a table cloth we were shown to a table without any of those fineries, thirdly we were given PLASTIC knives and forks whilst all around us our continental cousins enjoyed proper stainless steel, and after managing to order a beer and toasted sandwich the waitress came out and as I was about to eat it insisted I pay for it right there and then. Stunned, I pulled out my credit card and she marched me inside to pay whilst my toastie grew cold outside. NONE of non British guests had this treatment all enjoying full menus with decent cutlery and prepared tables and paid AFTER the meal. Poor on every count. If you are not British please help yourself although buyer beware. Brits just descend another half mile into the town where all the cyclists were !!

We (3 friends asked for a table to drink and eat something during our motorbike trip, and the woman in charge sat us dowm. A young blonde guy came to ask our order and we ordered three beers, one pizza (11€ and one salad (16€ to share as we wanted to avoid over eating as we prefer to eat light during midday while travelling. The waiter came back and told us in french (we only speak english and spanish that we needed to order three courses in order to be aerved as we were three persons. We explained oyr reasons but the restaurat managers did not agree. So we had to leave without being served. One restaurant is free to fix the price they prefer but cannot force you to order more than what you want in order to sell you more. This is not good for the tourist. Besides, whilst being in a touristic place, someone must speak a foreign common language. Treatment very rude and very unprofessional. Avoid.

We arrived to ride Mt Ventoux and our hosts recommended the restaurant. Very motivating to sit in the scenic location as cyclists descended to Malaucène. The food was very good but the service was a bit slow, but this didn’t matter too much.
