La Table Du Mareyeur

The restaurant has a nice terrace with a beautiful canal view and good food, however that’s all we can say about this evening. We were 5 young adult girls in our late twenties about to enjoy a pleasant evening and we were treated like poor children. From beginning on we were stressed and rushed to order food as fast as possible. We were served our starter on broken plates to start our evening. Later on, we realised all other tables were served an appetiser, which we ‘young’ girls were deliberatly denied. On top of that, the neighbouring tables were given explanations on the daily specials and drinks and were displayed the fresh fish. We ordered seafood platters and bottles of wine, worth a total of 500€! For this expensive price, the least one can expect is to be served with respect, whatever the age of the guests. We had to ask for plates, bread, napkins and wipes multiple times, something which is self evident for a seafood platter! At the end of our dinner, we asked for warm water to wash our hands (which you should not even be asking for after eating a seafood platter), we were served boiling water on purpose, as hot that you would not even serve it as a tea. After that, we were thrown dessert menus on the table, where we found remaining food from previous guests, unacceptable, especially in times of a global pandemic! To top off the evening, we were wrongly billed, when we informed the waiter about it, no apology was given, as if the mistake was made on purpose. When paying the bill, we informed the waiter about our disappointing dinner experience, and the only explanation we were given was that they were pressured by the owner to rush us. We asked to talk to the owner, who was the most presumptuous person I have ever met! We were given no apology and told that other guests already informed her about our complaints. In that case, it is exactly the owner’s job to come to us for complaint handling, however we were not important enough to them. After that experience, we still complimented the food, but as soon as we pointed out the bad, rushing service, we were treated as liars and not taken seriously. The owner laughed at us under her mask while pretending to care about anything we mentioned about our disgusting experience. The least you should do as an owner is to be open for constructive feedback. For sure we will NEVER return to this restaurant and we would not recommend it to anyone, you have better service at McDonald’s! We had a nice day that should have ended by a great dinner at a beautiful location, however we could not be more disappointed.

We have regularly dined here and used to be greeted by a friendly lady who took a personal interest. Now there are efficient courteous young wait staff and very high prices, but... Could we mix and match, No. You cannot have the starter from the prix fixe menu and the main from the a la carte. The fish the night we went were large and for two to share. My wife wanted the plat de crustaces and I chose a plain sole grilled, the only choice of fish for one person. The fish was firm and fresh but no one told me that a) it would be heavily salted and b) grilled covered in fennel seeds. A combination that is ill matched. Oh and could I have some spinach with my sole, no, spinach is not served. Beans, No. Only a mixed selection of vegetables. I ate 2/3rds of my sole but the fennel seeds were too much. The friendly waiter asked if I had enjoyed my meal when the 198 Euro bill arrived, 62 Euros for the sole. No I said and gave the above reasons. Let me talk to the manager he said.He returned, without the manager, without an apology for not telling me that my sole was not plain grilled as I expected it to be, and said would we like a free coffee or digestif. So beware. Check first before you order. The location is lovely, the staff friendly, the management less so, and remember it is not about what you want it is about whether you want what they have decided you can have. If you are going chose the set menu at 42 Euros.

We made a reservation for 11(! for lunch, not an easy task in the middle of high season and a couple of days before. The restaurant gladly accepted. Our group was totally unaligned when it came to mealchoices. 4 kids, 4 adults, 3 seniors. So we ordered from Plateau d’ecalliers, plateaus de crustacees, sole meuniere, pousson de la journee and kids menus. The restaurant gladly provided, and with style! The food was of an outstanding quality and freshness, the environment is just lovely and the fact you are by the water make it rather airy and fresh to be there, and the staff was exceptional! With the family being from Paris, where more or less everything is a fight, this friendly yet professional approach was hearth-warming and very much appreciated. Myself I have been coming to this place for many years now, and I know why I keep on recommending it ! Whenever in the region, we pass by, at least once!

This is my go to restaurant for great food, wine, service and location in Port Grimaud; pull up by tender or walk in. Just ideal and for its location and the experience I cant fault it. Dine here monthly and have sent many friends and clients.

What a delightful evening we spent here last week. Such gorgeous, very fresh fish and wonderfully attentive team serving us and looking after our every need.
