We stayed at this delightful small boutique hotel tucked away in a tiny village in the dordogne, which does not have any amenities. No cafes or shops so a very secluded area. The hotel has a very enticing small pool. Towels provided. The flora emanating wonderful scents, and fauna at that time is exquisite. Butterflies abound. Crickets constantly singing and lizards scurrying everywhere. Fabulous peace. No traffic to speak of or overhead aircraft. The small hotel is run by a young family. Their young son had fun showing me his 'bug hotel' and his fruit patch. Fresh raspberries grow in their veg garden and the lady of the house made fabulous elderflower champagne ( non alcoholic). The proprietor is a young Devonian and a great cook. Breakfast and dinner, on the terrace, order of the day and it was faultless. Delicious home cooking especially his roast belly of pork. Crackling to die for !! The proprietor and his wife couldn't do enough for their guests. The only drawback was the very small double beds which were 4ft 4" wide which for us was too small to sleep comfortably. There is no a/c and no wifi or tv in the rooms. Wfi availability only downstairs. Seven bedrooms and I expect when weather is cooler a great place to stay as one cannot fault their hospitality in any way and we enjoyed the quiet few days. St Severin another small village nearby had Brasserie open only a few days a week and a local bar open most days. If you are looking for a very quiet getaway with great cooking it's worth a visit.

We (two of us, 'sans enfants' for a liberating change this time) were greeted with a big smile from the so-friendly Hostess, Egija (eggya), who then offered us to eat 'interieur' ou 'exterieur' and we chose exterieur...of course! Sunny evening, 3 other tables full on patio near to the pool, great ambience. Menu arrived in good time, drinks offered straight away including water which was good as it's the first thing we wanted. Food choice covered a wide selection within a vey nicely listed table d'hôte style. The Starters included a gorgeous sardine dish, presented with a twist and tasting great (or did I already say gorgeous!).The mains we chose confit duck which was super crispy and very, very meaty and an absolutely superb rich flavour (I discovered only once my Wife was persuaded to let me try it!). My own main was the Hake with fennel and samphire...both mains had accompanying veggies that were all very good and flavourful. Wine list adequate for a holiday dinner, we had the 2010 Pécharment "Folly du Rooy", beautiful if 'ready to drink now (!)' and the range started at 15€ up to our 29.50€ choice. VFM at a bill was a real treat on an overspend stay in SW France...81€ (including that wine!), we had 2.5 courses - having shared the lovely Lemon Cheesecake with Elderflower Cream - and felt the quality far exceeded our expectations "in the middle of nowhere", just the type of thing the French are so good at...very well done Egija and "Hubby in the kitchen", see you again in July:-)

We weren't staying at this lovely hotel but ate here three times during our holiday in the area. The restaurant is open to both residents and non-residents and you are welcome to eat either inside or in the beautiful courtyard garden. The food is delicious and freshly prepared using local ingredients and the menu changes regularly to reflect what is available. The owners cook and serve the food themselves and there is a warm and friendly atmosphere about the place. We both had three 3 course meals here and would heartily recommend anything on the menu from duck, veal, pork, chicken and guinea fowl to delicious and inventive desserts. Would recommend to couples or larger family gatherings for great food and a warm, friendly welcome.

What a pleasure to eat here. Tasty food, great wine. a lovely ambience. I would happily go there again. About 175 Euros for 4 people with wine and beer.
