I've been going to LaZona cafe since it first opened with Irene, the owner, running it. Before Irene took over management it was called The Hairy Canary.It has always been my go-to Gymea cafe due to the great service, friendly staff, excellent prices , fantastic $14 lunch specials (which began at $12) and generous servings.I have left 5 ***** reviews in the past.However, Irene has now left and the new owner Craig has not only changed the name recently to LaZona Grill and Bar )which isn't a problem and/or negative, but has also hiked up the prices way too high and diminished the serving size.For example - the quinoa,chicken and pumpkin salad (which is deeelic iouss) was $14 with loads of chic...
We had dinner at La Zona. Everything we had was very tasty, and there were a lot of other options we would have liked to have tried, in particular the tapas dishes. Unfortunately we had driven into Sydney from Armidale that day so were just looking for a quick dinner before having a quiet evening so probably didn't spend as much time as would be necessary to do the place true justice
Have always found La Zona to be a pleasant little pop in for a quick casual and enjoyable lunch. Have been there also at dinner time ...did find it way too noisy when busy. Service is very efficient and the food very good, the price also being very fair and affordable and caters well for the local community. A nice little find within a walking distance from home!
The owner, Craig was a wonderful, generous and welcoming host and our meals were well portioned, delicious and reasonably priced. We will definitely be going back and recommend this restaurant for a relaxing dining experience that offers great food and terrific service!

Had to meet some friends for lunch on a Monday, not too many restaurants open in the shire on Mondays. Anyway it was very reasonably priced, BYO wine, excellent service
Love this cafe! The pork belly, chili prawn spaghetti and eye fillet are the reasons I keep going back! The staff are lovely and the coffee isn't too

We hadn't been there before and thought we'd give it a try . The meals were really delicious, service was wonderful . You must try the desserts !!

Pulled pork open melt was very tasty and generous. Prices reasonably. Coffee was ok too.
