I was in Michigan last week and while there I had to try Coney Island. I ended up going to 3 different Coney Island 's and I must say Lafayette 's was the best!. I would also like to say 'Thank You ' to the workers there! Brown bag! and the nice gentlemen that I met there! Especially the one who purchased my meal! I learned the hard way that Lafayette 's is cash only!
I tried Lafayette and American for the first time a few years ago. Had American first, Lafayette second. Preferred Lafayette. Went again with friends this weekend. Had Lafayette first, American second. Lafayette still the hands down winner unanimously. American may have the glitz and glamour, Lafayette has the flavor!
I think their Coney dogs and chili fries with onion and cheese are the best in the world. Come here for the real experience. At lunch time you might sit next to a lawyer playing hookie from his diet or other Detroit archetypes.
Got there at lunch and was still able to get a seat at the counter! Dogs had that nice snap to them when biting into it just as delicious as I remember them!!! Réservez une table maintenant
Not the original, but the best in town. Crispy fries and tasty dogs. The decor, and staff probably hasn’t changed in decades. Unpretentious and satisfying.
during a visit here for work, this place came to go on my radar as a place for coney island hot dog (american special) and chili cheese fries. eating.
